Dear Pilato and All,

I received your witty letter in peace for which I was very thankful. Your reiteration of our common belief in justice, peace, love, harmony and humanity brought me great encouragement.

What you and I accept also is that men rule this world, and men by their very nature are infallible and short sighted.
For a start Pilato, I am not Mandela. Nelson Mandela stood for something and this is the reason he did not fall for just anything.
You have been consistent in your quest for justice and the betterment of your fellow man.
As I write this letter and if my memory serves me right, I have been arrested over 12 times from the time the PF came into power, so much so that, when I walk into a court room, I do not even know which case I am on trial for! Anyway, that is the nature of abused power.
[pullquote]I have been arrested over 12 times from the time the PF came into power[/pullquote]

As I was saying, you are consistent, you are on the side of the down trodden, the persecuted and that has not changed from the time you and I started our respective journeys.I thank you for not sympathising with me, for that is not what is required.

What my co-accused and I desire is the liberation of our country, we acknowledge that indeed, a few of us have to be sacrificed in our quest for the true liberation of our beloved motherland.
As GBM often says,

“ichalo lifupa, wakolokota ko fye washa”

In short, we are all just passing through; no one will live on this earth forever.I however believe that our names live beyond us, and this is where a man must now question his conscience. One must ask what their purpose is; what legacy do they wish to leave behind? When Hakainde is gone, what will people say about him? Names have been known to open doors; by the same measure a name can close a door.

Tulinshimbi! All these people who are my co-accused were once herdsmen – Ba kachema! It’s only when you are subjected to this kind of treatment when the instincts of a kachema kick in.Wallace Chakawa and myself are childhood friends; we both went through the same kind of life. We faced the similar bullies as we are facing today.Bullying is nothing new to us. Living on minimums is not new to us. Sleeping in less than human conditions is not new to us.Intimidation is not new to us. We survived death as young boys from things that do not reason, animals!

Death, we do not fear, for if that is what they want, there is little we can do. However will the conscience of those who persecute us be clear as we rest in peace? We have after all survived for more than 55 years; as upright citizens because our folks and the community that raised us taught us three things; hard work, integrity and honesty. But when our values clash with those whose values are at variance with ours, this is the result: unwarranted persecution.

We shall meet again Pilato, if it’s not out there, you will find me here in Mukobeko and we shall share our light moments again, because I know you as a speaker of the truth, your conscience could easily rub the oppressors the wrong way and they throw you in jail!

For the UPND supporters and sympathisers, we shall continue talking to you from here. Nothing stops us from communicating to the world. They will throw us in jail some more if they wish but that is the fight we have embarked on. We knew as far back as 2006 when we entered the world of politics, that we shall face all sorts of things and this is just one of those things. The “freedoms” we claim to have today were a result of people that sacrificed their comfort and freedom to make Zambia what it is today.

We have made a lot of progress as a country; we have had elections consistently since 1991 under a democratic system that maybe far from being perfect, nevertheless it exists. With the right leadership we can build a more solid and inclusive democracy. Countries are like families.Where there is an irresponsible Father, the family is likely to struggle. Have a responsible Father and the family will be on the right course.

Be strong colleagues, this is the final phase of our challenges, and trust us, we will be there when Zambia is free and the beacon of prosperity in Africa. For that is the true reflection of a Christian nation.

Your words Pilato put it very well,

“It’s those that believe in the future that can see beyond this smoke.”

Worry not dear brethren; for the bible says in Proverbs 11:8 “The righteous man is rescued from trouble, and it comes on the wicked instead.”

God bless you and our nation.

    • May the gallows that Haman has prepared for Mordechai and children of Israel, boomerang on him instead. In Jesus name, i pray.

      AMEN.

    • This letter should be used to wipe one backside put in the cubicle and flushed away

It has empty words of someone who MUST apologies to the nation for putting this country in danger

I have a PhD from University of Glasgow

      Thanks

      BB2014,2016

    • Its only when its very dark that you can see the light… we may not be with you in flesh my brother we are you in spirit even if we are far apart.

One day we shall see the freedom some of us enjoy in these far countries shine in our land.

Your is a cause which the majority of Zambians don’t even know exits because they live in poverty and fend for a days meal.

    • The guy sounds well…. and he’s on facebook….. in a prison being run by a dictatorial government…it’s interesting! This must be a civilized dictatorship. By the way the guy does not mention anything about being tortured as we were informed by Mitinta and others!

    • Go back to School Mushota. Your PhD it seems is not fit for anything. I pity my fellow whiteman you claim has betrothed you. There is still a lot of slavery going on in secrete in Scotland. Nigerians and other African people especially children and women are kept in appalling conditions by the Scots. By the way; apology (Singular), apologies (plural) and finally apologize – noun (the act of asking for forgiveness) You can call the Home Office in confidence and you can be saved.

  1. I shudder to think of the consiquences of PF misrule if you think hard and worry about your children’s future then the future with PF if bleak!

  2. Pf suffers from allodoxaphobia- fear of differing opinions. Its sad that they are on record for throwing HH in prison for imagined offences. Its okey to have someone with different views.Thats what makes a country strong.Current politicians are certainly not setting a good example for Zambias future generation. Anybody who rises to prominence has to be thrown in jail or persecuted.May God grant the Hichilema family and the other families of the incarcerated strength.

Ps.when you get out please solicit for improved prison conditions.Prisoners are denied basic human rights in Zambia

    • What a load of detritus !

      Grow up

HH is even comparing himself to Mandela

Write with an element of sense for heavens sake, what have they done to the likes of you, who spew rubbish after rubish

You do the crime, you do the time

      He is doing this time

      Thanks

      BB2014,2016

  3. release HH..the man is a Christian…am sure people now know who the satanists are ..frank bwalya and his fellas..

  4. Waste of time!!Zambia is far much better minus HH&GBM in political circles!!!

Only F00L would worry about this useless propaganda!!HH must take it easy and allow the law to take its course.ranting from mukobeko wont help him in anyway!!he is simply prolonging his stay in jail.
Plus its like he hasnt changed despite spending more than 60 days behind bars, amazing!!HH,YOUR ARROGANCE WONT TAKE YOU TO PLOT ONE!REFORM.ZAMBIANS WOULD NEVER VOTE FOR AN ARROGANT POLITICIAN-MARK MY WORDS!!!
TO HIGH COURT JUDGES,PLEASE TEACH HH A LESSON SO THAT HE CAN LEARN TO RESPECT PEOPLE IN AUTHORITY!!HIS CASES ARE IN COURTS,BUT HH TALKS ABOUT THEM IN THE MEDIA DAILY.IS THIS NOT CONTEMPT OF COURT?what an arrogant creature this hh is!!!

  5. Since when did Pilato defect back to UPNDonkeys? Hh, you called these things on yourself and stop misusing the Word of God here. People advised you to respect the President of the country countless times, am sure even your own relatives know this, but what did we get in return, you kept on insulting President Lungu for no apparent reason. You forgot that President Lungu never imposed himself on that Presidency but people democratically chose him amongst the many contenders on 11 August 2016. You act like you were the only opposition presidential candidate that was on the ballot in 2016, why? Could it be that you sold our country to your sponsors even before the vote was cast? How else can one explain your proclamations and behavior as early as June 2106 screaming that you will not accept…

  6. contd
How else can one explain your proclamations and behavior as early as June 2106 screaming that you will not accept the elections outcome? As that wasn’t enough, you did what any law abiding citizen could not do in Mongu, disrespect the President of the country by waste behavior ever seen in our country, and now who knows what we don’t know you were planning to do to the peace of our nation. Hh, you are NOT the best that this country has and will ever have! Zambians have rejected you and the best you can do is to face the consequences of your actions and dont let us know what we know happens to someone who commits the highest crime and that of treason, man up and face it. Zambia was there and is here without you, and shall be so, period!

    • Hehehehe

The kaponyas are scratching their heads……they thought we will now see a broken HH……..just tell lungu to create jobs….and no one will bother listening to HH.

  7. HH is not remorseful at all!

Seriously HH sees the Mongu fiasco as one of the steps toward the total liberation of Zambia, as he calls it? Unbelievable!

True, the govt has run rough shod on opposition activities ever since Sata’s PF took power. GBM and Scott, –
being defence Minister and Veep, respectively – played key roles in the bigger scheme of things. Cadres headed by Judge Ngoma (now defected to UPND) became rabid and powerful in their new-found role as State House Security experts. GBM (now UPND’s angel) cheered them on, much to the consternation of the Defense Chiefs who found themselves playing second fiddle. Nepotism was fashionable, the apex of the pyramid was all bemba, Hamukales and Inonges simply watched from the sidelines. Those are the landmines Sata left…

  8. cont./
Those are the landmines Sata left behind.

To his credit, Lungu has made a fair effort to diffuse the mines, the reason why Inonges still survive to date despite near-zero Western votes. A fight for which Lungu has suffered so much ridicule from his comrades armed by one Chishimba Kambwili.

If Lungu is tipping towards dictatorship it is because he is reacting to bullying from HH and Co. STOP IT!

  9. I, for one, do not need Lunguor HH to liberate me.

    I WAS BORN FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. @1.1 Hate : Only God is infallible Ba HH. He(HH) is in fact Haman, He plotted Trouble but alas Trouble befell him instead. A sure case of Haman and Mordecai.

  11. It is not remorseful to write such letters from prison. Whether you are wrong or right a good attitude is important. This arrogance by HH will not help matters and might imply he intentionally disrespected the President which against the law.

    • Let HH finish himself up, even from prison. The is possessed….whatever he promised his sponsors is eating him up alive.

  12. It is not remorseful to write such letters from prison. Whether you are wrong or right a good attitude is important. This arrogance by HH will not help matters and might imply he intentionally disrespected the President which against the law.

    • Agree 100%. If i were HH i would rather stay mute than utter such words which in any sense does not attract sympathy from a lot of people.

    • Is this what you call arrogance? PF fellows surprise me with the way the see things. Arrogance is your fuller chagwa’s behaviour. In the above letter HH is just speaking the sober truth. His persecutors thought he will kneel down and beg them for mercy. Forget. A man of integrity would rather die in his righteousness than knee down before the devil and his agents.

  13. Malinso, Mushota you are too wordy… As much as you want to be heard so must others be heard too. The beauty of life is that your mouth is not the only mouth in Zambia. As you talk so shall other talk too. If you insult so shall others insult back… The circle will continue..
Should be surprised that even HH in prison is able to communicate with the world…..
Bloggers you can shut down everyone whether you are the Greatest Leader in Zambia….

  14. Stop playing the victim, ba Double H.

You are the one who wants to put this beautiful country on fire. Bitterness does not pay

  15. Bloggers you cant shut down everyone whether you are the Greatest Leader in Zambia or not.
No man is above the other . We are all equal before GOD. No man must look down on another.
Today is your day but tomorrow is someone ‘s day.. Even your enemy has his beautiful day… It can be all rosy to you all time… One day ,you will down …

  16. God forbid, but truth be told: Had sata survived to this day, Zambia would have buckled under the weight of nepotism and Kabimba-led militias.

Cadres would have become so powerful as to even tell us when to sleep with our wives or not. Of course, the Kwacha would have sneezed and turned into mere paper in reaction.

God loves Zambia. Lungu may not be the man to take us to the promised land, but he’s a far better option than the late Cobra. I am convinced he has steered the ship toward calmer waters. Give him time, then whoever else (but not Kambwili please) can take the reigns and see us there!

    Zikomo.

  17. We wish you all the best in your trials Comerade H.H. God is with you even in the dungeon. The Oprressors look happy but we are really with you. God will never leave you nor forsake you. Trust in him.

  18. Hehehehehe

The kaponyas are expecting a broken and repentant begging for mercy HH from lungu…….we salute you HH.

  19. PF will not be in power for ever. That is just reality. What UPND and other opposition leaders need to do, for the sake of future generations, is to carefully document all these abuses of state institutions and the people responsible for these abuses. They should document these abuses like they are preparing for a court case at the International Criminal Court. They can even enlist the help of International Lawyers who offer to fight injustice internationally pro bono. Time to account always comes whether it will be in the next five years or even longer, that time will surely come! People can be called out of retirement to account for crimes against humanity!

    • Proverbs 19: 9 A False witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will perish. HH remain strong. We are many (in our millions) who see the injustice you are enduring under PF. Time for God to scatter your enemies will surely come. God is always a fair God.

  20. When a battle is lost 6 times its always good to go back to the drawing board. One of the things most of us learnt growing up in the village was respect for authority respect for leadership. When we differed with our kith and kin we knew how to settle our scores. We didn’t play monkey games neither did we hide behind our flaws. A man who wrongs another must learn to own up. How many times did we call for our party to go to meet instead of locking up in court cases! How many times did we call for an end to some stubborn rule by decree. But Adolf wouldn’t listen he is like a person possessed. Boycott this boycott that, so and so is a hyena, we are going to a drag race, walk out on this one, he is bully. Like a little spoilt brat! 2021 zedf!

  21. Kikikiki….U5, your GBM is quoting bemba idioms. In this case he meant that you eat what you can while on earth, as in Tenderpreneurs. That has passed you U5?

As for your statement on family, you are THE irresponsible father in the family, and your family will struggle and suffer too if you don’t grow up.
And your 55years, no U5 means you are 5 years old.
Now we know your co-accused, you can only trust your tribesmates as close confidantes?
And your English, U5, “by their very nature men are infallible and shortsighted”, what do you mean baasa ba U5? We say men “are not infallible”.. I hope that you take some English lessons in Mukobeko not just blogging on social.media.

  22. HH is an inspirational, l hope truly hope that he becomes President one day not these bangwele we have masquerading as leaders in from of Lungu and his ilk.

  23. Bemba’s by nature detaste wisdom. Its an ethnic embarrassment that don’t like advise. They always think they know when actually not. Thieving RUNS IN THEIR DNA.They have the ability to influence dull individuals to hate those perceived wise or intelligent. Its on record that u are raiders. When given an opportunity the only thing you know is rooting. You such an embarrassment to this country. You have managed to brain wash easterners. Now they think Bemba’s mean well when actually not. You have destroyed our country.

  24. Correct me if im wrong, do they allow phones at mukobeko,…A person who has spend more than 60 days behind bars can not write such words of courage and full of pomp. Give HH a pen and paper you will be shocked his true experience and not what they are writing on his behalf, in the hope of keeping UPND intact while HH does his lone days in anguish. Ask Mwaliteta.

  25. Very, very, very unfortunate indeed!!! We still have people in Zambia who are very barbaric, people who strongly feel that Zambia belongs to them and them alone- shame. Poeple who very strongly feel the urge to hate and hurt others from other regions. Believe me there has never been a “ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION” even during the time of UNIP. Instead there was a promotion of the “TRIBALISM and ARRONGANCE of one or two ethnic groups. Learn the meaning of these two words – TRIBALISM: behavior and attitudes that is based on one`s loyalty to a tribe or social group. Believe me every human is tribal in one or the other but what it evil is the ARRONGANCE(having too great a sense of one`s importance and abilities) that comes with it. Believe me there are tribes today in Zambia which strongly feel…

  26. We nothing but pencils in the hands of the creator. Let the will of God prevail in this nation. All shall be well.
