Lusaka woman Strangled

A 38-year-old woman has been strangled in Lusaka, by suspected criminals.

The criminals attacked the woman and her 19-year-old son, before getting away with an undisclosed amount of money.

In a statement availed to ZNBC News, Police Spokesperson, Esther Katongo confirmed the incident, which happened last evening.

She has identified the deceased as Mailess Maunda.

Ms Katongo said Ms. Maunda and her son had booked a white Toyota Corolla taxi, from their shop in Chilenje area, however, the vehicle diverted, and started going towards town.

She said the criminals, who were armed with knives later strangled the victim and robbed them of a bag, with undisclosed money, before dumping them near the Intercity Bus Terminus.

Ms Katongo explains that the deceased victim’s son later managed to book another taxi, and rushed to Chilenje First Level Hospital, where his mother was pronounced dead.

Police have since instituted investigations, further advising the public to use registered vehicles from taxi ranks, to avoid falling prey to criminal elements.

    • Not surprising since there are now too many Bembas in Lusaka. This is typical of Copperbelt crime.

  1. No PF and UPND is involved. These are just criminals. let us pray for the young man . He has lost a mother. The criminal needs GOD’s grace for them to repent. Why do you kill a person for money?

  2. What a shame of a country calling itself a Christian nation. Lungu is busy using state machinery at the opposition while innocent Zambians suffer at the hands of criminals.

    • Are there no kindergarten schools in zambia where govt can start sponsoring our friends in upnd to help them mature. This immaturity by upnd cretins is safocating me too much. They fail to differenciate politics from under 5 games.

  3. Really, Authorities in Zambia must get a grip on violence and un-lawlessness in the country. The Military should start patrolling and curfew imposed.

    Zambians are savages.
