The opposition United Progressive People has demanded an immediate forensic audit of the Ministry of Finance.

UPP President Savior Chishimba said the party has been vindicated by the revelation made by the Minister of Finance that Zambia’s external debt now stands at US$17.2 billion saying the attempt to amend the figures by the Minister are part of the usual PF deceptions.

Mr Chishimba said this is a serious national crisis and that Zambians cannot take the risk of waiting until 2021 to usher in a new progressive government.

He said the people of Zambia are facing extreme hardships as prices of essential commodities have gone up sharply and packaging has been halved in some instances while maintaining the high prices.

“Whereas some of the debts are still being serviced, we are afraid to note that the larger part of the debt will be due for commencement of servicing by 2021 and our nation will, overtime, repay over US$50 billion when more debts and interest payments are included. It’s clear that the PF regime has made debt contraction the official economic policy. This is a suicide vest that the economy has been clothed with,” Mr Chishimba said.

He added, “UPP clearly warned, during the 2016 elections, against voting for the PF and all political parties with recycled politicians who have served as Ministers before. We also exposed the plot by the PF regime to consign Zambia to unsustainable debt.”

He alleged that the transformation of State House into a centre for the award of public contracts and corruption has exacerbated the crisis.

“Over US$5 billion has been plundered by the corrupt few politicians and public officers in the PF Government and nearly all these public funds have been repatriated into off shore accounts. This means that more than 50% of the debt has been pocketed by the corrupt few through corrupt public contracts.”

He questioned, “Surely, how can the PF borrow US$10 billion in 5 months? This is almost double the national budget and about the same amount that ZRA is claiming from the UPP in damages for suspected corruption exposures.”

“It is now clear that the PF will stop at nothing, but to keep going deeper into the people’s pockets to sustain the unprecedented and most useless Presidential trips as well as hefty pay for politicians and senior public officers,” he said.

“In view of the foregoing, we humbly urge President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and Vice President Inonge Wina to resign immediately and call for early elections so that a new crop of young nationalists, locally and in the diaspora, can unite to redeem the nation from total collapse.”

  1. Chishimba makes headlines when he talks about money.

Any money that thinks with his pockets is not qualified to lead any sane group of people.

I see though him. He has nothing to offer.

    Ignore him.

    Thanks

    • Chishimba is a serious candidate for people who have degrees without education. Even mushota is better off. He has no time to think or analyze issues. Kubwetuka like a rabid do.g on heat.

  2. Mushota the phd holder… with your renown intellect can you please explain what you mean by, quote
Any money that thinks with his pocketsis not qualifiedto lead any sane group of people.
I have heard of abstract thinking but, money thinking with his pockets, takes you into the realms of the upper stratosphere

  3. Did we not warn you? No where in any place of this world can you go and find a drunk as a president from a compound…..

Never worked anywhere in his life ….. convicted fraudster. Need i say more

We have been vindicated we warned you. You made your bed now you must sleep in it

    • Why would you need his cv, he was the best law student of his intake at UNZA and a lawyer by profession. What more do you need?? So if someone comes from the compounds, does that make him a lesser Zambian or an animal?? Conceited f.o.o.l, that’s why you keep on losing elections!! That’s why those white people you stay with will still call you a n.i.g.g.a no matter what education you have, you will never be their equal. Your children will always be called monkeys and bananas thrown at them. Here in our blessed Zambia, we respect each other and our elders.

    • @4.3 zambian citizen

Best law student? When he cannot even read, understand and follow the Constitution? That HE HIMSELF SIGNED?? Pleeeeze! Give us a break!

When he has his law licence reversed for stealing his clients money????

And then RIGS elections and prevents the ConCourt from HEARING a petition???? You call that person a “lawyer”?????

He probably cheated his way through the law exams too!!!!!!

Wake up and smell the coffee.

    • All of us are guilty of stealing one way or another. For instance, HH and VChitalu looted privatized companies and you stole your husband from that innocent girl, remember?

  4. I strongly Support a forensic Audit to establish the correct position of Zambia s foreign and local debt in the light of conflicting positions present to the Nation.

    • Should we liken Zambians tol the Greek who keep on electing leaders who refuse to fight corruption, who resist all ideas of building an efficient, competent and honest civil service, who are unable to collect taxes fairly but prefer to tax the poors and let the rich transfer their wealth abroad, and who prefer to blame the West and be friends to Chinese autocrats.

  5. The biggest hidden debt is from China! PF is a reckless party to be trusted with state resources! A forensic audit is in order!

  6. What is so worrying is that PF has paid up cadres who do not see any bad thing at all. This is true a national disaster our country is headed for a total collapse. All patriotic Zambians like the Late Michael Sata (may his soul rest in peace ) will not allow most of the current leaders in our government today including Rupia Banda, Dora to mention a few. Most of these guys will be refuges by now don’t be blinded.
