International Trade Expert Trevor Simumba has advised President Edgar Lungu to facilitate a National Economic Summit for the Zambia Economic Recovery Programme.

Mr Simumba said patriotic citizens will help President Lungu organise and facilitate the summit without charge.

“You have launched the 7th National Development Plan which is good. But that plan now needs to be broken down into practical strategies and action plans that will catalyse and enable private sector trade and investment and generate jobs and economic growth for Zambia,” Mr Simumba said.

He warned that without, the 7th NDP will just be another nice plan and document gathering dust in offices all across Zambia.

    • At the launch of the plan on Wed. 21st, the EU asked the government of Zambia if they could use the 7th plan as a blueprint in similar countries to Zed where the group offers economic assistance.

It seems GRZ agreed but I am not sure of the exact terms and whether copyright issues have been dealt with …

  2. Great idea! If the people managing the countries economy were proactive, they would have devised action plans.

  3. Mushota who ever you are boy or girl , on this one i support you , lets take time to understand the plan and see how can help our people including the village he comes from . This is serious lets not start wasting money , let it you donot get allowances the civil servants shall still waste money that would have used to work our and support some projects some where .

  4. He has to strive to be relevant. What about all those technocrats in government? They cannot do what Trevor is suggesting. Trevor left government to go and make more money in West Africa and now thinks he can even make more from the Zambian government by coming back as a consultant. Just enjoy in West Africa, Trevor.

  5. ”Patriotic citizens will help” This is a statement of draining money from citizens who are already highly taxed. How many projects will a Zambian citizen tax in order to achieve desirable outcomes? There is no tax relief for Zambians who are sacrificing for this nation.ZESCO has killed them through further taxing their hard earned income in form of electrical tarrifs. Here comes another person suggesting Zambians should pay for economical indaba. These Indabas is just a sheer waste of money and resources. They don’t yield any tangible results apart from milking tax payers of their hard-earned income.

  6. I don’t support the thinking because true this will be another venture to borrow and misuse the national resources. The first thing as of now let the PF government explain the debt of $17 million where these funds have been used. The suggestion of calling for an economic summit as of now is not okay cos this will just put Zambia on the worse debt path.

  7. President Lungu is on track! If anyone wants an input in the work to improve Zambia, you can get in touch! No one will stop you!
