A 49 year old woman of Mutima Village in Chief Lukwesa of Mwense District in Luapula province has been murdered by her 49 years old husband in a domestic dispute .
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo says this occurred in Luapula Province on 23rd June, 2017 at about 03:00 hours at Chawelwa village in Chief Kanyembo where the victim identified as Esnart Mwenya was allegedly murdered by her husband identified as Rodwell Lumbwe of Chawelwa Village.
Mrs. Katongo said in a statement that according to the father of the deceased woman who reported the matter to police, Mwenya was allegedly beaten by her husband on unknown date and time but in June this year and was kept in the house until she died yesterday.
The body is lying in St Paul’s Mission Hospital awaiting postmortem while the suspect has been arrested and is detained in police custody.
And in Muchinga Province, police have arrested a 65 years old man identified as Lavara Musanga Muma of Kalamata village, Chief Chikwanda of Mpika District for allegedly defiling his 12 years old niece.
Mrs. Katongo said in the same statement that this happened on 23rd June, 2017 at around 09:00hours at Kalamata Village, Chief Chikwanda in Mpika District.
The suspect is currently detained in police custody.
In Lusaka Province, a male juvenile pedestrian of Garden Compound aged 11 years died after he was hit by a motor vehicle registration number ABA 8331 which was being driven by George Tembo aged 23 also of Garden compound in Lusaka.
Mrs. Katongo said this took place yesterday, 23rd June, 2017 at about16:00 hours on Garden road, opposite Ngwerere School when the victim was crossing the road.
The victim sustained body injuries and died on the way to Chipata Clinic, she said adding that the body is in Chipata Clinic Mortuary.
On the Copperbelt , an unidentified pedestrian aged between 25 and 30 years of unknown address died on the spot after he was hit by a motor vehicle Toyota Hilux registration number ALL 7997 which was being driven by Amos Kapungu aged 38 of Kalulushi.
Mrs Katongo said this took place yesterday, 23rd June, 2017 at around 18:30 hours along Ndola – Kitwe dual carriage way near Chamboli bus station in Kitwe when the victim was crossing the road and in the process was hit by the speeding motor vehicle.
The body is lying in Kitwe Central Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
In Southern Province, a female juvenile pedestrian of Liveendo Village in Chief Singani, of Choma District aged 15 years died on the spot after she was hit by an unknown motor vehicle which did not stop after the accident.
This occurred on 23rd June, 2017 between 06:00 and 06:30 hours at Nachibanga area, 20 Kilometers South of Pemba when the driver failed to negotiate a curve due to excessive speed hence; hit the pedestrian who was walking off the road heading in the same direction. The body is lying in Monze Mission Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
