First Lady Esther dismisses assertions of favoritism

First Lady Esther Lungu has dismissed assertions that her Esther Lungu Foundation Trust favors women clubs and cooperatives affiliated to the Ruling Patriotic front (PF).

Mrs. Lungu says to the contrary , as founder of the Trust, she has visited and donated more to women clubs that are not in the PF strongholds such as the Southern Province.

ZANIS reports that the Mrs. Lungu said this when she arrived in Nyimba District in Eastern Province this afternoon, to commission the 1BY 3 classroom block at Simalama school in Chief Luembe’s chiefdom tomorrow.

Mrs. Lungu stated that she will not her Trust to be detracted from carrying its goal of improving the welfare of the vulnerable Zambian women and children.

The First Lady was received by Easter Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo, Nyimba District Commissioner Peter Kunda, senior government and PF officials among others.

Meanwhile, FIRST Lady Esther Lungu has arrived in Nyimba district, Eastern Province to commission a one by three classroom block built by NKhalamu Safaris in the area.

Speaking upon arrival at Taitana Lodge in Nyimba today, Mrs Lungu said she was also in the province to commission a borehole in Petauke district also done by NKhalamu Safaris.

She expressed happiness at the positive developments that are place in the province adding that cooperating partners are coming on board because of the good works that were being undertaken by the Patriotic Front government.

The First Lady also expressed happiness that child and maternal health was also being addressed in the area.

She further noted that she would like to encourage women in the area to venture into income generating activities such as goat rearing.

And Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo said the First Lady’s work was appreciated in the province as she was trying to lift the poor out of poverty.

And Nyimba District Commissioner Colonel Peter Kaisa disclosed that the Ministry of Health has constructed four mothers’ shelters in the district in order to curb mortality and morbidity in the area.

Col. Kaisa also disclosed that phase one of the new district hospital was complete adding that government had released money to do phase two which had already taken off.

The District Commissioner thanked President Edgar Lungu for releasing the funds towards the completion of the project.

The First Lady was welcomed by Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo, Nyimba District Commissioner Colonel Kaisa and district heads of government departments.

  1. Never mind this Chawama Old Hen let her publish her Trust’s accounts let’s see who is on it…these organisations should be banned as they are a tool for corruption and money laundering!!
