Nkana dispatched Zesco United to their fourth league defeat of the 2017 season on Wednesday.
Fifth placed Nkana beat Zesco 1-0 away at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to avenge the 2-0 loss in the 2017 Charity Shield final on April 1 at the same venue.
But most significantly, Nkana extended their unbeaten league run against Zesco to three successive games with two wins and one draw dating back to last November when they won 3-2 at Levy Stadium again.
Zesco held Nkana 2-2 in the first leg meeting in Kitwe on April 30.
Defender Diego Apanene fired in a stunning free kick in the 72nd minute from just inside Zesco’s area before it eluded goalkeeper Jacob Banda.
This is after Zesco defender Ben Banh had missed a 26th minute free kick.
Zesco drop from 1st to 2nd after the defeat on 41 points.
They exchange places with Lusaka Dynamos who beat Forest Rangers 2-0 in Lusaka to move to 42 points.
Nkana have 38 points.
