Yali urges government to delink NPA from Police

Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza has called on Government to move the reforms at National Prosecution Authority (NPA) with a view of delinking the authority from the Zambia Police Service.

In a statement to pan African Radio news, Mwanza said the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) has good lawyers and prosecutors but the linkage with the Police and the hidden stretch of political hands in its work is doing a disservice to the institution.

And Mwanza noted that the dropping of the defamation case against Saviour Chishimba was timely because it was going to be another humiliating episode for the National Prosecutions Authority (NPA) who seem to have lost control over cases involving the Zambia Police service.

Mwanza also noted that Zambians are yearning for a Police Service that is far from political influence and for the National Prosecutions Authority that will not entertain every case that lands on its table.

“We call upon Government to move the reforms at National Prosecution Authority (NPA) with a view of delinking the authority from the Zambia Police Service” Mwanza said
