MMD oppose political parties bill

Headlines MMD oppose political parties bill

The Movement for Multiparty Democracy 9MMD) Felix Mutati led faction is against passing the political parties bill in its current form.

National Secretary Raphael Nakachinda says the draft bill has so many areas that needs to be addressed before being passed.

He says there is need for concerned stakeholders to reach consensus on the matter before the bill is taken to Parliament.

Mr. Nakachinda says despite the party being in alliance with the ruling Patriotic Front (PF),they do not support the final draft bill, thus the need to sit down as stakeholders to address the lacunas in the bill.

He says the party welcomes efforts by the Zambia Center for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) to organize a meeting with all stakeholders to agree on what should be in the bill and what should be removed.
