Prominent Lusaka lawyer Keith Mweemba has been retained as legal counsel for the six protestors who were arrested on Friday.

The protestors were demonstrating against the controversial procurement of fire trucks at a cost of US$42 million.

Mr Mweemba accompanied the six when they went to Emmasdale police station where they were formally charged for disobeying lawful orders under section 127 of the Penal Code.

The case comes up on 27th October 2017.

And Pep President Sean Tembo who was one of the arrested protestors said he is looking forward to his day in court.

“I want to make it very clear that l look forward to my day in court and no amount of intimidation is going to cow us. Zambians deserve a better Zambia and l will do everything within my abilities to contribute to the attainment of such a vision,” Mr Tembo said.

    • But unfortunately this case will only be about the legal or illegal protest and not really the fire engines!! We need a case where someone is in court to find answers behind the questions about the fire trucks!!

  1. No. 3, which mother Zambia. Do not associate my beloved country to an overzealous Tonga tribalist. It is a matter of time, your young man is going to bruise or circumcise himself.

    • If tribe was a yardstick for attaining economic development, Zambia would have been the wealthiest country on earth, what do you benefit from hating tongas? You make money they also making money, you go to school they are also going to school, you pay tv levy, they also pay, you buy unga at K 80, unless you tell me you produce a pf card to buy at half price , they buy too, so WTF is wrong with you?

    • People that think like you are the reason there was a genocide that killed over a million people in Rwanda. You need serious help and should not be allowed to utter such dangerous statements which could be used to annihilate an entire group.

  2. The State will most likely enter a Nolle Prosequi because this case presents an opportunity to show case just how incompetent the police are. The police abrogated the provisions of the Public Order Act on this one and it will come out. They overstepped their boundaries and you can bet Mweemba will bring this out.

  3. Comment:

As ? feared, the truck issue so-called protest is a UPND conceived exercise. Lawyer Mweemba takes upnd-only grievances.

  4. He is the only Lawyer that seem can be trusted and gets it done. Lawyers in Zambia are as corrupt as Lungu, they accept bribes and it is a waste of time to even engage a lawyer in Zambia. They swindle you and not win you any case. We need more of Keith Mweemba. He is a breath of fresh air and I am not even a Tonga, if that matters to you.
