Kantanshi Member of Parliament (MP) Anthony Mumba has said the debate about the tenure of office for members of Parliament and councilors is not important at the moment.

Speaking from South African via telephone interview with a Pan African radio journalist Gift Katuta, Mr. Mumba said discussing the 2018 National budget will be more beneficial as it gives guidelines on how Government will spend public resources.

And Mr. Mumba says People should not worry about the tenure office for MPs because the electorate only vote for candidates they believe would offer highest quality of deliverance.

Mr. Mumba has however stated that the petition by Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza is ill-advised.

He has since further urged Zambians to avoid borrowing ideas on Governance from other countries as they risk borrowing wrong ideas.

Meanwhile, Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) President Kryticous Patrick Shindano has urged Zambians to take up an active role in developing the country’s economy.

Shindano said Zambians should bear in mind that development is not a preserve of Government.

Shindano notes that Zambians should have a cultural mind shift and venture into activities that will generate wealth for the country regardless of their social status in the society.

“Zambians should take up an active role in developing the country’s economy” Shindano said
