The Esther Lungu Foundation Trust donates food stuffs to four Secondary Schools in Rufunsa District

The Esther Lungu Foundation Trust has donated food stuffs worth more than K30, 000 to four Secondary Schools in Rufunsa District in Lusaka province as part of its continued efforts in supporting the underprivileged in society.

Handing over the food stuffs on behalf of the Foundation , Rufunsa District Commissioner, Judith Chama commended the First Lady Esther Lungu for her continued efforts in supplementing government’s
efforts in assisting the vulnerable in society.

Mrs. Chama said the Trust has been an outstanding partner of government in helping the less privileged not only in Rufunsa but country wide.

She said that the food stuffs will go a long way in supplementing the food needs at the four secondary schools namely Rufunsa Girls Technical School, Chinyunyu, Mpanshya and Lukwipa Secondary Schools, respectively.

And the beneficiaries say they are grateful to the First Lady Esther Lungu and her Foundation for the timely gesture as the donation would go a long way in the institution’s nutrition needs .

Chinyunyu Secondary School Head Teacher, Nancy Sakala and Mpanshya Secondary School Head, Lendah Muloongo said the donation had come at a right
time as their schools were facing challenges in feeding the pupils.

And Chinyunyu Secondary Head Girl, Suzyo Nyirongo also thanked the First Lady and her foundation for the timely donation saying it was a clear
indication that the first lady treasures and cares about education for all.

Suzyo said the donation was not only important to their nutritional value but it will also go a long way in improving their academic and
professional venture.

And speaking at the same hand over function, Rufunsa District Education Board Secretary, Stephen Katuta said the First Lady through her Foundation has been an all-weather partner to the education sector .
Mr. Katuta urged the pupils especially the girl child to desist from early marriages and take advantage of government’s good policies such as the Keep the Girl Child in School
programme.

The donated food stuffs which included, 20Kg bags of rice, beans cooking oil among others .
