Soccer fans demand answers for Shepolopolo’s FIFA U17 qualifiers flop

The Zambia Football Fans Association (ZAFA) is challenging FAZ to explain why the Under-17 Women’s Team arrived in Gaborone hours prior to Friday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier which they lost 4-0 to Botswana.

The Young Shepolopolo were eliminated from the 2018 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign by Botswana at the preliminary stage via a 6-5 aggregate score-line.

ZAFA General Secretary Chawezi Katwizi has charged that FAZ owe Zambians an explanation on the Under-17’s trip to Botswana.

“Information on the ground is that the team arrived around 23:00 hours on Thursday. The travelling arrangements to Botswana were shambolic and contributed massively to the loss,” Katwizi said.

Reports from Botswana say the Zambian girls never had time to train in Gaborone.

“As fans we demand an explanation from FAZ on what transpired. FAZ need to attach great importance to women’s football,” he said.

Zambia was seeking a second appearance at the U-17 Women’s World Cup having made their debut at the 2014 tournament in Cost Rica.

“It is very disheartening to see our Under-17 Girls being booted out of the World Cup by Botswana,” Katwizi said.

  1. You just lost because your team failed to beat their opponents. Botswana were better on the pitch. Zambia should learn how to accept defeat. Complain, complain every time.

    • You are off the mark. The truth here lays on poor travel preparation. No rest, no practical before the encounter. Merit: First leg 2-5 was a big advantage
