HH speaking to Journalists outside the Cathedral
UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema

Opposition UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has revealed that he had intended to visit some Cholera affected citizens to see how they are coping with the outbreak.

Mr Hichilema says he has however been advised by state health professionals from doing so.

He said the health officials advised that the presence of the UPND team may lead to an escalation in the spread of the disease as members of the public may flock in numbers and possibly with the view of hearing from the UPND on its long term solution to this perennial problem.

In a statement, Mr Hichilema said the UPND intended to visit some of the areas affected by the cholera outbreak around Lusaka and visit those who have been abruptly been removed from the streets so that the UPND officials can have a feel of how they are coping.

“In the same vein, we also wish to sadly announce the postponement of our planned Eastern Province card renewal exercise and party mobilisation activities which were scheduled to take place tomorrow in Chipata City,” Mr Hichilema said.

He said the party has been advised that the cholera outbreak is still being assessed countrywide and that the gathering may equally escalate the spread.

“As leaders who listen and take professional advice, we have a duty to abide and heed so as to save lives. However, within our small ways, we have made readily available some health requirements to some of the affected areas,” Mr Hichilema said.

“We wish to once more call on all citizens to join hands in ensuring that we adhere to the professional advice in combating this cholera epidemic ravaging our country. Ours is a healthier Zambia, and once more we offer sincere condolences to the bereaved families who have lost their beloved ones and we also offer prayers and wish a quick recovery to those of our citizens affected.”

He added, “Once again, we salute our men and women in uniform (Zambia Army, Zambia National Service, Zambia Air Force and Zambia Police) for the great job they are doing in combating this epidemic. We equally thank the health professionals who are at the centre of handling this delicate and challenging task as they are risking their lives in serving their fellow citizens under very difficult conditions.”

    • It would be good to hear from HH how he gets safe drinking water and disposes of sewage and waste at his New Kasama mansion.

Nearly all residential areas in Lusaka these days have stand alone water sources and sewers for the household – the primary reason for the numerous water borne diseases experienced! Proper reticulation systems were long done away with. Mains water from LWSC where available is never 24/7 and unlikely to be in the foreseeable future …

    • Ba LT you must be factual in your analysis. The tone and arrangement of your analysis deliberately intends to insinuate that HE WAS STOPPED and HE IS COMPLAINING when the fact is that HE CONSULTED AND WAS ADVISED!!!! By swooping the paragraph 1 with paragraph 2 of his original statement (exempt quoted below) in the order and emphasis of your reporting, the whole message becomes misleading.

“We also had intended to visit some of our citizens who have abruptly been removed from the streets so that we can have a feel of how they are coping.

But after wide consultations with the state health professionals, we have been advised that our presence may lead to an escalation in the spread of the disease as members of the public may flock in numbers and possibly with the view of hearing…

    • Is HH complaining? Don’t go anywhere, what if he contracts cholera and dies, that will be bad for Edgar and Zambia.
Even when I saw Edgar at New Year eve in streets and church, I got so scared.

    • He should have been allowed to. And while at it, shake hands and share food with the affected. You really can not fix $tupid.

    • HH has no issues to talk about. He is a politically spent person. How can a sensible person want to hold meetings during cholera? He did not need professional advice but logical reasoning. Eastern province will not give any votes. People there know how Southern Province voted last and will make UPND taste it’s own wickedness.

    • they should allow him so that gets kolela and stat paagging like a duck

      u5 is politicin koleka

let him stand as mp in lsk

he will lose. we dont want him only one tribe

    • HH has never done a single charitable gesture. Dispite his wealth he has never donated to a single orphanage and you expect him to volunteer in cleaning. A sane person would not have even attempted to go and visit cholera areas because we all know what large gatherings and cholera does.

  1. Tabalufyenye. Imwe fyonse ma politics. apa tapali ifya ma politics bane. HH can now go round the country to visit all learning institutions since education is affected due to the fact that there is a delay in opening schools due cholera.

Ba HH muleisako namuno muma orphanages where there are no cadres but vulnerable children.

  2. He wanted to go and start campaigning in chorela invested areas. This kid is mad. The best thing to do is take you cadres in town center and help cleaning up. Bring back some of the money you have put up in offshore accounts and use it to help health workers fight the deadly desease and not to take advantage of the sick.

  3. Adolf after saying ‘lets not politicize the issue of cholera’ so what are you doing go in those areas at your own risk you are just surprised that the one you fail to recognize moved swiftly and cleaned up a mess that has been on going for years so please just sit in that your mansion and dream of 2021 when you will again be heavily defeated. You so blind to hearing your won voice you don’t know the strategies your fellow opposition members have put in place as usual you will be grabbing anything that walks as you panic….. After all this is a national disaster so boycott it

  4. Everyone is being stopped from visiting infested areas. What was HH going to do there any way. Was he going to swallow the cholera?

  5. Kachema mukalamba is at again. Never trust this man because doing so is like asking hungry monkey in maize field.
Already he has forgotten that he was hallucinating that the cholera issue must not be politicised. Is he telling us that before the outbreak he never saw the filthy conditions that littered Lusaka? True to the word he is an Under 5 for sure.

    • That is why you are Malinso you cannot read, you are the same fools when HH brought up these issues you called him names that he was bitter. Here you are now clean your filthy city

  6. Surely, the President’s visit had a purpose and objectives which are slowly bearing fruit.
Lusaka is being cleared and a few food outlets have been closed because of the outbreak.
    What was your mission?
Why not visit the cholera victims or clinic?

  7. HH is indeed cursed!!can a normal person seek political gain from sad developments such as cholera?am shocked!!what can HH go and do at cholera centres?Kainde does not share his money with anyone.in events such as this cholera one, rich men donant a lot of money but HH cant do it.SURELY HH’S DESPERATION FOR PLOT ONE IS VERY SHOCKING!!!Not even president Edgar Lungu can be allowed to go and campaign at cholera centres!!SO WHY IS THIS CRY BABY KAINDE COMPLAINING ABOUT HERE?
IF HH LOSES 2021 ELECTIONS,HE WILL DIE FROM BP BECAUSE HIS DESPERATION FOR GOVNT MONEY IN STATE HOUSE IS NOW TOO MUCH!!

    • HH is just a Sadist we should be praying for him everyday for him to be delivered from the sins of greed and bitterness…

  8. I am deeply touched by the humble article by HH which clearly reveals his true character of humility. Surely these are the true colours of HH I suppose. How I wish I could vote for this man, come 2021. Ba HH, please continue humbling yourself, God will surely exalt you one day.

  9. HH is a sadist…He is praising the men and women in uniform but deliberately fails to recognise the commander in chief who ordered them to clean and also participated in the cleaning… Zambians are able to see his bitterness and arrogance on this Supreme Leader HH of the UPND towards the Republican President of Zambia…

  10. With his millions, why can he not donate a few dump trucks to help with cleaning process instead of wanting to play politics at all times. That’s why his ass will never be president.

  11. Come on people, do you honesty think he meant to undertake that visit? Don’t be blinded by his rants. The almighty HH does not mix with dirt. Even if he was given a go ahead he would have said he has changed his mind so as not to risk lives.

    Chipimo 2021.

  12. A sane man would not even attempt to do such a thing..for the first time Mr HH u are wrong here..wrong time sir

  13. @KCI .. Consult and find out things before you just blubber out. HH has been carrying out a lot of charitable work for a long time – Including building schools in rural areas. He also has been sponsoring a lot of pupils to school. He rarely talks about these things but lots of people have benefited from his benevolence. He recently also donated k50,000 to towards the rebuilding of the gutted market.

  14. HH has used always given from his wealth. A lot of people here are blogging blindly or out of hate and malice. Check your facts and be objective enough to accept the truth. HH is not even in government. You are not concerned that those in government have been expropriating your taxes and resources for their own self-aggrandizement – to the detriment of the whole social economic fabric of the country. The current sad cholera state of affairs is linked to mismanagement, lack of planning and misuse/theft of monies. Everything is now being closed. They may as well shut the country.

  15. This man HH is evil, he always wishes bad things like this to happen in the country to reap cheap political mileage. Those wishes he is offering to the bereaved and the cholera infected people are just crocodile teas. If this man was carrying Zambia’s interest at heart by now he would have used his resources to help combat this scourge, so far he has done nothing apart from lip service, yet he is the richest guy in the country, the man is very selfish, what kind of a leader is he? He is just good at condemning, criticizing, complaining for no apparent reasons.Zambians across the all the provinces I beg u not to give this man a vote in 2021, we can be worse off with him as a republican president, his agenda is to satisfy his egos only.

  16. HH is at it again. This time around he wants to visit the sick just like he did when he went to take photos with Mu..nko..mb… but did NOTHING for the old man. Optunist. This kind of politicking does not impress me. What about those that lost their homes when you broke them for being in “your” land, have you visited them?

  17. Bloggers ..let us focus on the bigger picture and not HH.
HH is a private Zambian citizen just like you and me.

Big Question – What does it tell us about GRZ if in this modern age we still get Cholera in Zambia??
And it has to surely involve the defense forces to assist!!
How and why do we have to be in this state of affairs?
What is the core problem leading to this situation and how can we address it permanently??

    • Lol it’s funny isn’t it, were actually loosing lifes and no ones talking about the cause or a solution, just their political affiliations. I’m kinda starting to see why the smartest people I know run away from zambia. People’s perspectives are blurred by ……

  18. They should have let him go and visit the cholera patients. While there he should have kissed the ground in memory of his bravery. hh you want to go to EP, the province of koswe muponto, amazing.

  19. The UPND where informed by health authorities not to go ahead with the Kanyama rally in October’2017 and they obliged by cancelling there rally. Why didnt govt vigorously deal with the cholera problem since that time untill the start of January 2018?

  20. HH, look at the people with good hearts-TRADE KINGS,they have donated products worth K2 million today to ministry of Health.CAN GREEDY KAINDE DO THAT?NEVER!!all he knows is politicking on every matter in Zambia.INDEED THAT IS WHY HIS ASS WILL NEVER SEE THE INSIDE OF STATE HOUSE!!!his votes from 3.5 provinces will always be a drop in the ocean!!HH for sure is a satan1st-Chilufya Tayali is very right!!This tonga man really irritates!!
What Zambians need now is solutions to overcome cholera fast and not CHEAP POLITICS FROM LOSERS SUCH AS KAINDE!!so for once HH,shut your rotten mukobeko mouth!!!
May God bless Zambia and i wish cholera patients a quick recovery.for those who have passed away, rest in internal peace brethren!!GOD IS IN CONTROL AND EVERYTHING IN LIFE HAPPENS FOR PURPOSE!!GOD IS…

  21. MY BROTHER HH AMUSES ME… HE WANTED TO TOUR THOSE PLACES IN WHAT CAPACITY… HIM HAS ALREADY SEEN A CRACK FOR POLITICS… HIS HUGE APPETIT FOR STATE HOUSE WILL MAKE THIS CHARACTER SIT PANSHIMBI YOKUPWA….

  22. All mammals are warm-blooded with the exception of Under Five and his Mongu entourage. Oh, sorry, and HaJayJay and his online outlaws! They are cold too!

  23. Adolf Sammy Supreme Leader Kachema is at again. Losing five elections is no kids staff. He needs some post election counselling.

  24. If you think he looks presidential then you don’t know what a president looks like! He is so immature that he doesn’t know that cholera is not like malaria where you can visit people! Under Five needs more vaccines he missed in childhood!

  25. Well tried but from a stenchy mouth he can only politic again, why . “He said the health officials advised that the presence of the UPND team may lead to an escalation in the spread of the disease as members of the public may flock in numbers and possibly with the view of hearing from the UPND on its long term solution to this perennial problem.

In a statement, Mr Hichilema said the UPND intended to visit some of the areas affected by the cholera outbreak around Lusaka and visit those who have been abruptly been removed from the streets so that the UPND officials can have a feel of how they are coping.”

  26. It’s strange that a normal person would hate another for no apparent reason and still embrace those that are rooting right left and centre. Just shows luck of morals . The hate bleeds…and it’s hurts back. People just scringe knowing he Guy is successful by means of his own intuition and not the other way they know best.

  27. Uyu mufana niwo lemala ku bongo nipa kamwa. Ukacite ciyani ku Chipata? Ukapeleke cholera yimene una panga? Olo kapena uzacita kissi pamalo yaku chipata utisiyile cholera?. Una tiuza kuti isebakum’mawa ndife a koswe, manje lelo tawamanso? Kupusa mutakati! Enda kwanu ku mukuni.

  28. How pathetic that some bloggers are running away in a shameful manner from assessing the actual cause of the Cholera saga by attacking HH. Relentlessly shameful. People are dying and all you can offer are baseless criticisms of an individual who is not in government.
I have written in other posts that there is need to contain the Cholera by identifying the sources, rather than addressing the superficial outlets. I have asked about any data to do with testing of water sources. I have proffered that this is a political and governance issue – clearly to do with mismanagement, lack of planning, pilfering of resources and a corrupt culture. Accountability and responsibility – especially for those that put themselves forward to be in charge of the nation. That’s what bloggers need to address…

  29. …. not meaningless, baseless character assassinations. Have you been planted to divert people from the real issues?

  30. investigate the 3mansion .could be one in charge of this bactrrial as biological weapon to cauase uprising.

  31. Prevention is better than cure. Those in charge of Public Health and their bosses have failed us badly. They are now fire fighting instead of being proactive
