Shiwang`andu District Commissioner Evelyn Kangwa has urged loan beneficiaries under the Youth Street Vendor Empowerment Scheme to pay back their loans.

Ms. Kangwa said Government will not tolerate loan defaulters, hence need for the street vendors who benefited from the empowerment scheme to pay back the loans.

Ms. Kangwa said this in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Shiwang`andu today.

The District Commissioner said Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sport released funds four months ago to help various youth street vendors in the district to have their businesses boosted.

Ms. Kangwa said it was saddening that only 6 beneficiaries out of 37 have started paying back their loans.

She said that such attitude will not be tolerated in the district and further advised the loan beneficiaries to settle their loans before they face consequences for not paying back.
