Zambia beat Orlando Pirates in friendly

Zambia have beaten Orlando Pirates in a friendly today at Rand Stadium in Johannesburg.

Chipolopolo beat the South African PSL club 3-1 in the teams’ first high profile training game since entering camp in Lusaka on December 11.

Zambia took the lead in the 13th minute through Zesco United striker Lazarus Kambole who is set for Chipolopolo debut when the CHAN tournament starts this weekend in Morocco.

The two sides then went into the break tied at 11 after Mpho Makola equalized in the 22nd minute.

Zesco defender Fackson Kapumbu later restored Zambia’s lead in the 47th minute and Power Dynamos striker Alex Ng’onga ensured his sides victory in the 85th minute.

Chipolopolo striker Justin Shonga did not feature for Pirates in the friendly.

Zambia depart South Africa this evening for Casablanca via Dubai ahead of the 2018 CHAN that kicks off this weekend.

Morocco is hosting the CHAN from January 12 to February 4.

Zambia is in Group B where they will face Uganda in their opening game on January 14.

Namibia and Cote d’Ivoire are the other Group B teams.

  1. Really Africa is so under developed. From J,burg to Casablanca (within Africa), one has to go through Dubai, this is just ridiculous!! Well done boys!!
