The Zambia Under-20 team held its first training session on Monday afternoon in Lusaka ahead of their 2019 U20 AFCON qualifiers.

Zambia U20 assistant Charles Bwale and goalkeeper trainer Kalilo Kakonje are in charge of the first week of training camp while head coach Mumamba Numba is away with Zanaco in Morocco on 2018 CAF Confederation Cup duty to play Raja Casablanca on Wednesday.

Forty-one out of the 53 call-ups reported for day one as the defending U20 AFCON champions begin their one month training camp.

Zambia will face the winner between Kenya and Rwanda in next month’s second round who are tied at 1-1 heading into the final leg on April 21 in Kigali.

The defending champions will visit the winner in the first leg during the weekend of May 11 and the final leg will be played during the weekend on May 18.

Winner both legs of the second round will advance to the last qualifying stage in July to play Sudan, Burundi or Ethiopia to decide who qualifies to next year’s Niger finals.
