NDC in Northern Province is intact-Sinkonde

The opposition National Democratic Congress has refuted reports that its entire Northern Province has resigned and rejoined the PF.

NDC Northern Province Youth Chairman Gridgeney Sinkonde said in a statement the reports are part of cheap propaganda being peddled by PF.

“I want to tell the people of Northern Province, Zambia and the whole world that there is NO provincial executive member who has resigned and rejoined the PF. The reports in the ‘Zambia Dairy Mail’ newspaper purporting that we (Northern Province NDC executive) have resigned is a pure lie which the Patriotic Front issued to gain political mileage,” Mr Sinkonde said.

“Here is the truth about the 4 members who were used by PF to mislead the nation, namely, Francis Chileshe Chanda, Mulenga Samuel, Phiri Kelvin and the former NDC Chairman for Luwingu district. Francis Chileshe Chanda was NOT an executive member the time he resigned. He was demoted from his position as provincial chairman by NDC Consultant Hon Dr Kambwili and was with immediate effect replaced by Mr Bwalya Godfrey.”

He added, “Similarly, Phiri Kelvin who claimed to have resigned as Kasama district NDC youth chairman was NOT a serving member the time he resigned. He was demoted on 16th March, 2018 due to lack of competence and was replaced by Peter Mumba immediately.”

He said the other two members mentioned above, are the relatives to Francis Chanda Chileshe, the former provincial chairman and therefore were his blind followers.

“From my personal view point, these two people had nothing in their heads to contribute to the growth of the party but were only driven by Francis Chanda Chileshe who also happens to act like a mosquito without direction. It is therefore ridiculous on party of PF party to celebrate over something which is not real,” he charged.

Mr Sinkonde said the NDC provincial executive members for Northern are currently busy preparing for the forth coming local government bye-election in Chumba and Musowa wards scheduled to take place on 5th June, 2018.

“We (PEC) are intact. We are working tirelessly to see to it that Northern Province becomes NDC biggest strong hold which we have almost achieved. We won’t be shaken by desperate PF officials who depend on lies for their survival.”

Meanwhile, NDC Parliamentary Candidate Webster Katongo has told a media briefing this morning that he will support PF Candidate Mama Maria Langa in the forthcoming By – Election.

Mr. Katongo has since Defected from National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the Patriotic Front Party – PF with immediate effect.
