  1. He must have slept a little too long I suspect.

RIP, no winner in death, thoughts with his family.

    Thanks

    • Oh too bad! MHSRIP. What has taken him to the grave at this early stages of life and when he was serving the people of Lusaka?

    • Stop lying, he never served people of Lusaka, ni Ba Edgar and Vicent Mwale who clean in Lusaka. Can’t you think of something else?
Infact he a better job in Luapula where he was from than Lusaka.

    • This is what annoys me with Zambian Journalism, a sitting mayor dies and you can not state where he died? Which hospital? What was the cause of death? This is why ZWD fill in the blanks for you then you rush to media again…

    • Even those that laughed at you that you were dozing when in actual sense you were not feeling well are here pappa, even crying the loudest. I am waiting for a signal!! How shall we deal with them pappa!!

    • Another hasty bloody election on the way in the Capital all because the myopic leaders we have are unable to stand down due to ill health and the PF top leadership wanted this man to continue getting taxpayer funds even though it was evidently clear that he was unable to deliver.

  2. RIP Kalumba. Very sad indeed.

Under the current constitution, Maureen becomes mayor immediately as kalumba has served less than a term.

  3. NOW HE IS REALLY GONE TO SLEEP.
IF AT ALL THIS MEANS A BY ELECTION,HERE WE GO THE MADNESS THAT PF HAS FAILED TO TAME SHALL SOON BE UPON US.THE ONLY SOLACE IS THAT THEY WILL BECOME INCREASINGLY UNPOPULAR.

  4. In hindsight if the mayor was un well for a long time he should have stepped down and we could have avoided the constitution crisis and costs that we are going to go through. i think the system needs to retire on medical grounds any office bearer who is unwell for a period of 3 months

  5. Very sad and shocking, especially that we never heard about his sickness. Condolences to the family

  6. Come to think of it …its started to make sense now; this man (MHSRIP)has been ill for a while hence his absence at a number of events and the posting of Bowman to Lusaka, more noticeable was the Deputy Mayor…Lazy Lungu was aware of this but again lamentable failed to make an executive decision and relieve this man in national interest…here again we have an official dying in public office.

  7. Noooo! my dear friend we were together in primary school very bright and humble character last time you came to our house in Oxford you gave me pearls of wisdom, you are an epic of resilience never give up you say. Will miss you dearly buddy.RIP until we meet on the yonder

  8. Sad news.

When is the swearing in ceremony for Maureen. The constitution is clear on this. We have got to shear in the closest contestant within 72 hours.

    • 57. (1) Where a vacancy occurs in the office of Member of
      Parliament,mayor, council chairperson or councillor, a by-election
shall be held within ninety days of the occurrence of the vacancy.
      (2) A by-election shall not be held within the one hundred-and eighty
day period that precedes a general election.

Which clause in the constitution supports your position CHITAPANKWA ALLEPO TRUMP

    • So if Trump dies in Office today …you think Hilary will take over, that’s how nonsensical you sound….what you should be debating about is amending the constitution so that we refer office bearers for medical review when they are absence from public office for more than 10 days…we can not have Presidents clinging on to offices like old man Sata did; we need to be serious with productivity in Zambia and urgently address this issue as no Zambian Politician will willingly resign on medical grounds or ill health.

  9. Sad news indeed RIP there are no winners in death. The deputy mayor should take over immediately to avoid a costly elections, the coffers are dry as it were.

  10. Chitapakwa, why are we having elections in chilinga? Can you please give us the clauses that support your debate..? MHSRIP.

  11. Sorry bloggers, I had a Burundian copy of the constitution top of my folder.
But @ Ilikoliko has supplied the answer we want.

  12. Chitapankwa heard from someone, who also heard from someone that participated in the CRC about the provisions of the constitution. The document is readily available for all to read.

  13. Aids has once again claimed an intelligent soul. Use condoms bane. Not if you have money you expose your penis anyhow. Too sad. O feel for the children. His wife died because of his libido. Shame. I feel for the married women you screwed.

    • Please let’s be honest with ourselves ….just because someone has died we start saying nice things when its evidently clear that you are telling porkies.
      I leave for another day!!

  14. Some pipo talk as if they will never die! It doesn’t matter how one dies or what kills who bt we all go back to the soil worse with nothing apart from the cloths other pipo chose for you. Please pipo let’s stop politising ifa. It’s not human at all. RIP WILSON.

  15. Signs of his ill health where write everywhere he went and he has finally succumbed to death. Let us put out health a priority and above anything else. MHSRIP

  16. The Zambian constitution in article 158 states
    By Elections in a Council
    158. (1) Where a vacancy occurs in the office of mayor, council
    chairperson or councillor—
    (a) the Town Clerk or Council Secretary of the local authority
shall, within seven days of the occurrence of the
vacancy, inform the Electoral Commission, in writing,
    of the vacancy; and
    (b) a by-election shall be held in accordance with Article 57.
    (2) If a person is elected to the office of mayor, council
chairperson or councillor in a by-election, that mayor, council
chairperson or councillor shall serve for the unexpired term of the
    council and be deemed—
    (a) to have served a full term as mayor, council chairperson
or councillor if, at the date on which the councillor
assumed office, at least three years…

  17. Just call Maureen Mwanawasa to complete his term until fresh elections thereafter. Maureen was second during previous elections.

  18. Next time people pay attention to signs and render help quickly, The sleeping too much of the Mayor as depicted on social media and news was a sign of something not right with his Lordship’s health.. May his soul rest in peace.

  19. Some people have already started campaigns for, chinangu m’town ati ‘Antonio Mwanza’ for Lusaka Mayor.

  20. Any human that celebrates the death of another fellow human being despite our human differences, is a fool and the devil incarnate. Kamuya kabotu basa. May your soul rest in peace brother.

  21. We are using the old constitution , a bye ELECTION IS COMING WITHIN 90 DAYS, YABA LUSAKA CHILANGA MAYO NOW IT WILL BE BERNARD CHIWALA TO WIN THE MAYORAL POSITION UNDER UPND, BUT IAM TOUCHED , THE MAYOR WAS SO EDUCATED HUMBLE AND NEVER KNEW HE WAS SICK TO THE LEVEL OF gOD CALLING HIM. MHSRIP AND THE KALUMBA FAMILY NEEDS PRAYERS I HOPE ITS NOT THE FATHER KATELE KALUMBA ENEMIES WHO HAVE DONE THIS LOBBYING US OF WELL COOKED PATRIOT ZAMBIAN WHOSE POLITICAL CAREER JUST STARTED

  22. Sooo sad. No wonder he was sleeping all the time. It could be that he was sick and people made fun of him. Atleast he suggested a few unpopular ways of rasing cash like contributing to the council whenever you bought talk time. Cahs that the council did not deserve. Trying to reap where they did not sow!
So sad and quite a disaster he is gone.
