On this day, all flags will fly at half-mast and all radio and television stations are expected to play solemn music from 06:00hrs to 18:00hrs.

  1. He has not been “accorded” a State funeral. He is entitled to one, as is the case for anyone who served as minister. Just thought l should clarify this point in case someone thinks the declaration of a state funeral for Mr Munkombwe is a favour Vice-President Inonge Wina or the government. It’s a mandatory requirement by law.

    • Edgar hates funerals.
      Humongous was right.
-PF must protest for Edgar abandoning Victoria Kalima in death.
      – Zambia must protest for Edgar to abandon Munkombwe funeral.
Going dinking in Mombassa with strangers when nation is mourning ministers who have so much to communities.

    • When we tell you Lungu is a lazy man some bootlickers take offence…even just declaration of 3 days national mourning affects productivity …in Lazy Lungu’s case it affects his partying hence he flies to Nairobi for a “Private Visit”. I am happy FAZ have realized that the games should go on and players have to just wear black bands…as we have leaders who have no concept of business or productivity…they are just good at enjoying their allowances and hefty salaries.

    • It’s sometimes hard to convince people who have made up their minds, but surely these state funerals: playing solemn music from 06:00 to 18:00 hrs, describes the extent to which ubupuba has spread in our governance. Government is quick at declaring state funerals and holidays, but slow at improving the welfare of the masses.

    • As of 2012, Govt’s policy on State Funerals. Of course, this policy is not set in stone. But to insinuate that somehow Govt acts without guidelines is really silly. If we, as citizens, are unhappy with the policy there is always a better way to lobby change than simply spouting off online sounding like dumb@sses. One way is through how representatives (MPs) in Parliament.

Here is govt’s policy/guideline on State Funerals:

“…the personalities entitled to state funerals are the President, Vice-President, Chief Justice, Speaker of the National Assembly and Cabinet ministers….all former holders of these offices will be accorded the status of a state funeral and the period of mourning for a serving President is seven days while that of a former President is five days….five days…

    • Continue….

national mourning will be accorded to a serving Vice-President and three days to a former Vice- President…Speaker of the National Assembly and Cabinet ministers will all be accorded three days of national mourning while former holders of these offices will be accorded one day.”

Now, if you feel this is not right please lobby to have it changed than just throwing baseless tantrums rooted in ignorance.

    • “On this day, all flags will fly at half-mast and all radio and television stations are expected to play solemn music from 06:00hrs to 18:00hrs.”

Forgive my ignorance but somebody educate me on how these 2 items quoted above affect productivity?

  2. This State Funeral farce should stop, & only a President should be entitled, including all significant past Freedom fighters.
How a Freedom fighter like Munkhombwe gets only one day, when just the other day some female gender minister was accorded 3 days, shows this is a mega joke. Where is the sense here?
All State funerals should be 1 day only, & a President / Ex President 3 days max.
WE ARE A POOR NATION,. & CAN’T CONTINUE WASTING VALUABLE TIME, FORCING THE WHOLE NATION TO STOP BEING PRODUCTIVE, & MOURN INDIVIDUALS THEY HARDLY KNEW.
We have been even forced to Mourn Criminals like Kafupi, who embezzled Zambia dry, leading to widespread misery, & poverty of our citizens.
    Bupuba!

    • In fact any President convicted & found guilty of Corruption /Embezzlement, should have the privilege of a State Funeral withdrawn, as that individual ceases to be a President, & becomes “A Mbava, /Kawalala” & Kawalalas should NOT be given a State Funeral, or havetheir filthy Corrupt remains be put to rest @ Embassy Park.

    • When you have foooools for leaders this is what you get confusion…I stated that a maximum of 72 hours of days of national mourning should be awarded no more and that’s for a Head of State or Former… Death is part of life, why should it affect productivity?? We have lazy foooools for leaders …where is that lazy man is he still partying in Nairobi??

  3. Really laughable the way these lazy empty tins are throwing around declaration of days of national mourning like confetti …

  4. Meanwhile the president has gone to Kenya to learn how to reconcile with the opposition from his Kenyan counterpart president Uhuru Kenyatta.

    • Even pre-school kids don’t need lessons for that …taxpayers are paying for his stay in Nairobi whether its private; the security detail has to be paid ….when is this lazy ignoramus going to realize that he is a President of a nation…why did he even become a President?????

  5. Ba Jay Jay calm down badala. The government is just following the law. For and sitting minister is three days of national mourning and for the past minister is only minister is entitled to one day. You are just a bunch of confused characters who see everything wrong that the government does. Change together with your under 5 party, otherwise soon you will become irrelevant.

  6. #5 Upnd party, well stated and good advice to jj. This upnd cadre can’t think or say anything without looking at the picture of h.h. Looks like he was told that h.h watches all his members all the time. Like everybody knows, to these clan members especially jj, h.h is a god.

  7. Its easier to declare a state funeral than to create jobs. So they keep declaring regardless of effects on production

    • Please, help this person called Sharon. They urgently need a psychiatrist to straighten their mental state.

  8. Cow dung is infections to the brain! It is like foot and mouth disease! It comes out through the foot and the mouth! Bullies and Hooligans Association of Namwala. I am glad Hazaluza Hagain also known as Childish WILL NEVER be president.

  9. Animo Farm Party with a tribal Hagenda at heart spearheaded by hooligans and bullies. UPND is a tribal grouping with bullies disguising as “economists!”

  10. Focus on developmental issues, to these two dull parties UPND and PF, focus on developmental issues. Because you are both dull, you are now focussing on national mourning, who gets it who does not, does your debate put food on my table, ala shaa

  11. Kikiki,Pati Kada, even Victoria Kalima was accorded State funeral. How do you want the V.P to phrase it.Kwena you are a UPND cander ka. Everything is wrong ,even white is black, kikikiki.

  12. JJ wanrs to come out like he is a patriot but even a blind man can see that he is a die hard UPND cadre. Insult the President all you want and call him names it just shows that you were brought up in a broken home . I am sure you dont even kniw who your father is you are just a low life armchair critic

  13. It is interesting to read comments about state funerals when they are a constitutional provision that simply needs looking up. @Yambayamba puts it succinctly when he quotes the provisions. We can discuss the merits of demerits but not attack he persons according it as enshrined. Awe mwe.

  14. Just the first sentence made me lose appetite to read the whole story…”Acting President Inonge Wina has accorded an state funeral to……”
LT if your people are this bad at grammer, use free online grammer checking apps.
