Anti-Corruption Commission Director General, KAPETWA PHIRI says there is need to inculcate ethical values in the youth in a bid to fight corruption.
Mr. PHIRI says once the mindset is changed, a corrupt free Zambia is possible.
Speaking on the sidelines of the African Union Summit in Nouakchott Mauritania, Mr PHIRI told ZNBC News that engaging youths and children at a tender age is the best way to fight the scourge.
He says the Commission intends to give an opportunity to youths to attend the Youth Conference in ABUJA, Nigeria so that they too can appreciate the challenges of Corruption.
Mr PHIRI says there is need for the youth to know that what they are not given , they must not take or rather must not abuse their power.
He explained that the ACC will now go flat out to ensure YOUTH advocacy take centre stage in the fight against corruption.
Mr PHIRI also stated that the Commission has already started ensuring the Corruption topics are in the School curriculum and intends to take it up to university.
Meanwhile, Minister of Mines , RICHARD MUSUKWA says Corruption needs to be fought at all levels, in the mining sector, if the benefit must accrue to the country.
Mr MUSUKWA says this is inclusive of Job placement, contracts and Supply goods and services.
And Mr .MUSUKWA says Corruption can erode the aspects of tax collection, financial leakages through transfer pricing and over pricing of goods and services.
He says it is for this reason that government wants a complete overhaul in terms of the mineral value chain, so that it is done in an open and transparent manner.
Mr MUSUKWA says this will help curb illicit flows in the mining sector.
Speaking on the side lines of the AU Summit in Nouakchott, Mauritania , Mr MUSUKWA says government knows that the mining sector is the cornerstone of the countries development and that corruption must not be allowed to thrive.
Mr MUSUKWA is part of the Zambian delegation which is being led by Vice President INONGE WINA

PF is a Den of Thieves. Corruption & looting of treasury will only end when Lungu & PF are removed from Govt & jailed looong sentences with hard labour as a lesson to all future leaders.
This is a long-term strategy which can bear fruits in 30 – 40 years from now. The ACC should articulate how they intend to fight corruption with the current generation of leaders.
Wherever you go now, it smells corruption, nothing gets done without corruption, yet you dream of what Zambia will be in 30 years from now?
The current youth are rather looking at people in authority, if NO measures are taken to stop the rot with the current generation of people in authority, nothing will change.
We need to see quick wins, with the current situation, otherwise, this is just “all talk, no results”

Mr Musukwa has talked about everything else but the elephant in the room. What about the politicians who are busy plundering the country’s resources? Why is he not talking about actively planing to launch an investigation concerning corrupt leaders, including Lungu? Educating the youth about the evils of corruption is a good thing. But currently it’s old politicians who are stealing and they need to be investigated, arrested and put behind bars. When he does that, it’ll be a more effective lesson to the youth than all the empty lectures in the world. Arresting corrupt leaders and putting them behind bars for a long time deters others from engaging in the same.
So Mr Phiri do your job. Open an investigation into all these corrupt politicians’ activities. Start with Lungu and his buddies. The Zambian people are behind you, and will support your effort. Go after the big crooks.
Talk to the school kids… Guess then we wont be seeing the end of corruption during Lungus term
How can you teach school kids the ills of corruption when they look at lungus potraite every day in school , a person who is accused of being a corrupt theif every day and he does not deny this ?
Everyone in GRZ thinks there is nothing wrong with being labeled a corrupt theif because of lungu.
Never mind the fancy speach, what are you doing about the cases on corruption. It is not our youth that need to be sensatised on corruption but our top officials in the country. are you yourself corrupt free sir? if you are let us see some action on the FIC report.

Yes teach the children and youth but what about the widespread and rampant corruption among senior civil servants and political leaders which they meet the moment they leave their class rooms? Look here Mr ACC Phiri, this has to be a comprehensive fight, lock up corrupt politicians and public servants both in upnd and PF so that the youth and school children see practical examples that corruption is evil.

So the question remaining is what are we doing about it Pilato is in court for fighting against corruption while the majority of us enjoy our freedom .let’s force government to add a clause in the constitution for ministers,The president,mps ,councillors to declare there assets every year .Let us force a mandatory debate before voting which should be aired on ZNBC and the candidates should sign against some of the promises.Let us demand that stiffer punishment be induced for theft of public resources be over other theft cases and let us demand that no one will have the right to pardon anyone if they plunder public resources.And lastly let us demand that the mines minister resigns if he was unable to see that black mountain was a harzard how will…
