Nkana, Power draw in fantastic derby

Share

Power Dynamos battled from two-down at home on Saturday to finish 2-2 against Nkana at Arthur Davies Stadium in their Kitwe derby.

All four goals came in the second half of the Kitwe derby that saw Nkana take the game to their hosts but found defender Faustin Bodakila and Power’s third choice goalkeeper in inspired form.

The deadlock was broken in the 55th minute when Ronald Kapamba gave Nkana deserved lead and five minutes later Walter Bwalya sent Power reeling to the ropes with the second.

But Power regrouped and hit back in the 66th minute when Alex Ng’onga scored his first derby goal against Nkana since 2014.

Five minutes later, Larry Bwalya fired in a breathtaking long-range goal that befitted this riveting Kitwe derby to see the two sides share the spoils.

The result sees Power stay unbeaten in the derby for a second straight game after defeating Nkana 2-1away in the first leg last April across the road at Nkana Stadium.

However, the result does little for both sides’ causes with Power now 7th on 38th points while Nkana have 39 points and at number five.

Nkana are fifteen points behind leaders and their next opponents Zesco United who are in action on Sunday with 15 games left to play before the 2018 title is decided.
