Labour Minister Hon. Joyce Nonde Simukoko
Minster of Labour Joyce Simukoko has urged employers to release their workers to go and vote in tomorrow’s elections.

Mrs. Simukoko has made the call in line with the Presidents declaration of Thursday July 26 as a public holiday.

In a statement to ZNBC News, the Minister of Labour has called on employers both in the private and public sector not to infringe on the rights of employees and allow them to exercise their constitutional right to vote.

She further says that essential workers can be accommodated in progressive arrangements for them to take part in voting pursuant to the provisions in the Industrial and Labour relations Act.

Selected districts in the country go to the polls tomorrow for the election of Mayor, Council Chairpersons and ward by elections.

  1. Very confusing!!!! Public and Private employers to let them go and vote. Thought it was a holiday so everyone was free. Has the holiday been canceled??Realised the impact on economy??? Why arrangements?? Jesus help us!!

    • Iwe naiwe don’t you see people working on holidays and weekends? Go to hungry lion tomorrow you will find people eating fast foods. When were you last in Zambia?

  2. this minister is a disgrace to our country when a lot of workers are being exploited by so called investors etc, they don’t ‘ve access to their rights n the Labour commissioners are worse than her.

  3. @2.1 What was then the point of declaring the day a holiday to include even the areas that are not affected. It was just abuse of power from ignorance and excitement.

  4. I DON’T KNOW WHY THEY ARE BOTHERING TO VOTE. PF WILL WIN – WHY WILL THEY WIN – BECAUSE LUSAKA IS RUN MAINLY BY CROOKED PEOPLE WHO MAKE THEIR MONEY FROM ILLEGAL BUSINESS. THEY WILL NOT ALLOW ANOTHER PARTY TO WIN OTHERWISE THERE CROOKED BUSINESS DEALINGS WILL HAVE TO STOP.
LOOK AT LUSAKA – IT IS DIRTY, OUR ROUNDABOUTS ARE A DISGRACE, OUR PAVEMENTS ARE A DISGRACE – NO ONE CARES ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS HOW TO GET RICH QUICK !
