Blood sample tests fail to determine the real parents of the “resurrected” 19 year old girl

Share

Blood sample tests to assist in determining the true biological parents of the 19 year old girl alleged to have resurrected in May this year in Ndola has hit an obstacle.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga disclosed that fresh tests have to be done on the parents claiming paternity to the girl because the initial tests indicate that three claimants have blood group O while one of the mothers has group A+.

ZANIS reports that Ms. Katanga said from these results Police have failed to establish which one among the claimants are biological parents.

She disclosed that fresh samples have since been taken to South Africa and results are expected to be delivered by August 15, 2018.

Meanwhile, Ms. Katanga said the child was still in custody of the state and will only be released once the matter is settled.

She has since appealed to the general public to exercise patience with her office on the release of the results in the case.

And Ms. Katanga has also disclosed that the Copperbelt Police command has shortlisted over four thousand applications for the police recruitment exercise.

She explained that those shortlisted will be subjected to physical tests of which three hundred and fifty will be picked for aptitude tests.

  1. 50 years of independence we still have to take blood simples to South Africa?.is this honestly true. I can’t believe this. It’s really a shame.

    • So much about zambia this zambia that yet we have no capacity despite having several medical universities to do a DNA test properly!
Yet you wantva nuclear facility fimo kuti waseka mwe. You will die like flies should a nuclear accident happen!

    • How Much is the DNA machine compared to the price of those landcruisers these politicians use. Our Leaders from the President himself?? Have serious deformity in the way they think. The whole Minister of health cannot put priority to have such critical machines in the country?? Depending on South Africa? This shows stupidity. Anyhow, We can’t wait for the 15th as this matter is very interesting that we determine who the real parents are.. maybe all so called claiming parents are witches too.

    • When we tell you that clueless Lungu is still keeping the country in the dark ages, you think we’re just being mean, huh? Fifty years after independence and we can’t perform a simple DNA paternity or maternity test ? Wow. This is embarrassing. And, most likely, the test in South Africa will cost a fortune. I’m sure the South African DNA testers will die laughing at how backward Zambia is. What a shame.

  2. “…She disclosed that fresh samples have since been taken to South Africa and results are expected to be delivered by August 15, 2018….”

You mean Zambian hospitals can not do a simple DNA test ?

    Shocking……

  3. Blood type really? That is neither conclusive nor scientific.Blood type is a random thing many people can have the same type. They should have seen this coming a long time ago but as usual its chipantepante all the way.How dull can our police men and women be?They should have gone for DNA resting.
What happened to the DNA testing equipment that the government announced it had purchased for the police service to help solve crimes, was it just another one of the government lies?

    • I think the equipment is in the country and installed in the lab but they don’t know how to use them.

    • @Monk Sq Analysis i don’t know what they do that side when they purchase an equipment but the normal practice everywhere i have been is that the company(seller) installs the equipment and trains the workers in areas of operation, simple maintenance, diagnostics etc.
Btw, even if they were not trained,it has been quite a long time long enough for people to learn how to use it.I think the equipment may not be in existence or there is something we don’t know for sure.Something is not adding up here

  4. What did the police want to achieve by testing for blood group? All along I thought they were doing DNA test. And results have to wait for this long?

  5. Blood type or DNA test? For real? We should let experts handle such matters. Clearly Ms. Katanga does not know the difference between a DNA test and a blood type test. Utatako on Mzanzi Magic solves this problem all the time! Watch it when you have some time.

  6. Central lab at UTH or Nkanza – Lancet can easily do these tests. I do not understand why ZP has to go SA for these. Some time ago I head on the news that ZP forensic was enabled to do DNA tests. It could be that the families requested for the tests to be done in SA.

    • @Commodore, I don’t think the families care where the DNA test is carried out from. The truth is Zambia does not do DNA testing yet, which is quiet embarrassing. How can they solve complex crimes without this valuable tool? What a shame.

  7. Blood Group is not a fool proof test for determining parentage. DNA is. Blood Group will just help to exclude the impossible group to have.

  8. Tiuzenikoni imwe ma microbiologists, is this the way parentage is determined? Through blood groups? Kofi kulibe DNA testing which determines percentage probability in a more convincing way?. Did Katanga say what is reporter or is it just the reporter failing to do his job?
