Nkana warn giant-killers Young Buffaloes

Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi has warned giant-killers Young Buffaloes not to take his team for granted in the 2018 Barclays Cup finals.

The second division club has enjoyed a giant-killing run in the 2018 Barclays Cup on their way to reaching the final in their tournament debut where they will face Nkana on November 10 at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Young Buffaloes beat 2017 champions Zanaco 2-1 in the quarterfinals on September 29 in Kitwe and on Saturday eliminated 2015 winners Green Buffaloes 4-3 on post-match penalties following a 1-1 semifinal draw at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.

“Yes they are giant-killers, and yes, they have booted out Buffaloes and Zanaco but they will face another team which is a competitor in the FAZ Super League and we will also treat them with respect,” Chambeshi said.

“But I think they know the team they will be up against, it is not a team to underrate. They will have to pull-up their socks.”

Meanwhile, Nkana are gunning for their first Barclays Cup win after finishing runners-up in 2014 when record five-time champions Zesco United beat them 3-0.

“We will wait until the final whistle. I know the supporters have faith in this team but let them come and support us and we will see how far we will go in this final,” Chambeshi said.
