Intervene in prayers on issues of coffins refusing to be buried-Kaoma residents

Share

Scores of Kaoma residents from all walks of life last week gathered at Kaoma Secondary School to participate in the National day of Prayer, Fasting Repentance and Reconciliation.

The residents have called on the clergy to intervene in the issue of coffins refusing to be buried during Chikondo as it is called in the local language.

Officiating at this year’s National Day of Prayer under the theme ‘Facing the future as a Reconciled, United and Prosperous Nation under God’s Guidance’ inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:19-22 and John 3:2, Kaoma District Commissioner (DC), Kennedy Mubanga disclosed that Chikondo has been a thorn in the flesh of government.

Mr Mubanga said the practice does not only endanger the good neighborliness but also splits families.

He explained that Chikondo is mainly used by proponents to settle scores in the pretext of witchcraft as the claims of coffins refusing to be buried proved wrong whenever Zambia Police or Army are involved to bury.

The DC has since called on the clergy and the body of Christ to help government put to an end the primitive ritual as Zambia is a Christian nation.

Speaking during a sermon at the event, Tabernacle Embassy of Grace Ministries Apostle Mulimba assured government of the Church’s intervention into the Chikondo ritual.

Apostle Mulimba said the clergy in Kaoma will make sure that the diabolic practice comes to an end as Zambia is a Christian nation and should not allow such practices.

He noted that families have suffered divisions and abuse as a result of Chikondo.

Meanwhile, Mr Mubanga noted that there are certain needs that government cannot easily meet which need divine intervention by God Almighty.

He said it is for this reason that President Edgar Lungu saw it fit to move further from the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation, to declaring October 18, as Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation.

Mr Mubanga observed that the declaration gives an opportunity to well-meaning Zambians to call upon God to deliver and heal the Nation from divisions arising from varying political perceptions.

He noted that the scripture in the book of 2Corinthians 5:19-21 is timely as it admonishes everyone to reconcile as a nation in order to be reconciled to God Almighty.

  1. A bunch of jokers. Who in their right mind would believe that there are dead people who would refuse to leave Zambia under pf?death in Zambia is now a luxury as at least when you are dead you can avoid the suffering under pf

    • Are you saying if u5 becomes president economy will boom kikikiki

U5 must be supa human no wonder hes irreplaceable

    • Imwe bantu zoona has reasoning just escaped you? And you have to ask God to stop your superstitions when you have been given a brain?
There are more burials in Lusaka than in Kaoma how come we don’t see any coffins refusing to be buried at leopards hill? Are the coffins in rural Kaoma made from magical Mukula?

  2. This is another reason Africa and African lag behind other races …..primitive beliefs in witchcraft which seem to engrained even in governments.

Developed countries stopped beliving in this shiite hundreds of years ago, yet you still have MPs and leaders beliving in this disgrace…..shame.

  3. The DC has clearly said this Chikondo is stage managed because when the Police or Military personnel carry the coffin, nothing happens. Why are people then asking God interventions on their self-made pranks?

  4. @Divide & Rule
How do you call someone a Disposable Condom? Even if you disagree with that person you can’t say that. Wore still he is a National Leader, a DC. Lusaka times do something.

    • The problem is we have MPs and other elected leaders who believe in this…..if people in high office did not believe in this , serious sanitisation programmes and laws would be enacted against this just like in the western world in the early
      1900s

  5. @Divide & Rule
Dont push your luck too far. In this age, some one may be tracking you. You can not hide nowadays in the name of social media. Cyber investigations have now moved to an advanced stage. Dont say you were not warned. Good luck Mr Divid and Rule.

  6. Please LT complete the story.
How does the coffin or dead body behave when refusing to be buried by civilians?
We do not need this on the 18th October.

  7. Try to ask minister sumaili to come there and assist you since the day of prayer is over so now she has nothing to do until next year day of prayer. If all else fails call national withdoctor freedom sikazwe to come with his charms.

  8. If a coffin can refuse to be buried it follows that economic ills can refuse to be buried thus an economy can refuse to be resuscitated. It’s Chikondo to blame for the Kwacha’ s fall. Let us pray
