Vice President Inonge Wina has called for concerted efforts from both the village headmen and the Chiefs if encroachments in the boundaries of traditional land are to be curtailed.
Mrs Wina said encroachments should be curtailed because settlers need to be given authority by the traditional leadership before they could settle in a chiefdom.
The Vice President said this when she paid a courtesy call on Chief Chipepo of the Lenje people at Kabaka Community School in Kapiri Mposhi district.
And Chief Chipepo who spoke through a representative Benson Chanda,raised some concerns which include a boundary dispute in his area which he said had been going on for a long time.
The traditional leader also appealed for extension of the road which is under construction in his chiefdom stating that it was of economic importance to his area.
And in response, the Vice President thanked Chief Chipepo for allocating part of his land for the resettlement scheme.
Mrs Wina told the traditional leader that government has prioritised working on the road to easy the movement of people and produce to the market.
She further assured the Chief that government would find resources to extend the road so that it goes beyond the resettlement.
The Vice President was in Kapiri Mposhi to visit Lukanda Resettlement Scheme which has a population of about 6,000 people.
