Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo has with immediate effect banned the mounting of hand-held speed trap cameras on roads that have static speed cameras.

Mr. Kampyongo has also directed the police command to implement regular rotation and transfer of officers from general duties to the traffic section and vice versa.

Speaking during a media briefing Mr. Kampyongo said this will avoid a situation where officers overstay in one position.

He says the police Command should also ensure that supervising officers who fail to discipline erring officers under their command are charged.

The Minister of Home affairs also urged the police command to work with the ministry of finance to ensure full migration to the electronic payment system for payment of fines and fees.

    • Kekekeke PF awe mwe… Can’t wait for them to ban traffic officers from seex. Guys can’t do any thing now.
Better rotate Ba Para from beating up Pastors with Traffic Officers who will just ask Pastors for kwacha and set them free from Charity K.

    • Hahaha…so this means even mobile police officers will be mounting road blocks…but please be careful those mobile guys are dangerous crooks who often take part in aggravated robberies, they are even worse than traffic and they also kill as they are always armed…but let them not try their nonsense with me …friendly forces or not I will arrest any buju for mounting illegal roadblocks as is my right as a citizen

    • I now need a refund from the policeman for a bribe I gave him for the hand-held speed trap camera incident when I was caught. I don’t need the refund from the government but the policeman personally. Thanks for this landmark decision Kampyongo. Kampyongo for President in 2021!!!

    • 2020vision…You must be a very dull jerk talking from ignorance.Mobile Unit does’t fall under General Duties (GD) only officers at CID, Inquiries, Frauds, Traffic and Anti-Robbery for a particular division. You don’t expect officers from Airport Division, Mobile Unit, Protective Unit (Para) , State House division, & Tazara Divison to work for Traffic unless they change the division …Its a good move though officers must rotated bcoz they all do same set of courses…

  1. kkkkkkkk…..please be serious please we beg…reduce traffic police increase patrol day and night bring back the beat system, re-train our police through regular refresher courses, don’t keep buying ‘new uniforms’ for kick backs…bring back professionalism by not just recruiting over age cadres with a list from we know who…all Police officers must be subjected to the mandatory 6 Ks run every morning not those potbellied and over weight people you call cops….take them to sondela every sixmonths at least then up grade liyali training college to include academic studies so that it turn to Lilayi Academy for elite police service….

  2. Won’t change anything corruption will still rule the PF police, they are just following what the debarred fyimo fyimo said……..

  3. They will just buy more bikes and start chasing us around. Also, those silly stickers on cars…. when will they be banned? Ati reflectors! Kwati fipuba – mu 21st Century namo! Mwe mbwa mwe!

  4. Traffic Police on the Copperbelt have devised new ways, they drive in private cars and jump in the middle of the road to pounce on motorists. If you drive a smaller car then you’re always a suspect, uchita malift even when you’re alone. We are in trouble

  5. I once almost hit a policeman who jumped into the road with a stop sign on the Ndola-Kitwe Road. I only stopped because I was brought up under Kaunda times when we used to respect the law. They have a very dangerous way of ambushing speeding motorists. They should just be stopped from mounting handheld speed camera traps altogether.

  6. This is not news ba Minister ba PF. So you expect them to use both cameras on the same roads. Even the dullest policeman cannot do that – what for? He sees speed camera and then mounts his own and what can you say about such a cop. It just shows the low thinking calibre of the Minister.
    Disaster!!!!

  7. Pls compel police officers to wear name tags so that we can name and shame these thugs in uniforms. There is this crooked woman at City Market Police post (wears a minI skirt uniform) and another brown one at Los Angeles police post. These are real thugs but what are their names?

  8. Kampyongo has managed to make Zambia a police state! What kind of insecurity is this where Traffic police are allowed to mount road blocks anywhere, anyhow and everywhere? Lusaka suffers too much traffic congestion because of these senseless impromptu road blocks. We must be mindful of the need to free the wheels of commerce if our economy is to pick up! Why should it take 2 hours to move goods and services from one end of town to the other just because of road blocks? Our roads are forever developing ridges and waves because of roadblocks! Can we have roadblocks only where the road infrastructure is designed appropriately for such! Can we also have IDs for Police officers! A police officer must identify themselves before talking to anyone for us to differentiate between criminals and…

  9. Don’t know about other wild life sanctuaries, but Kamwala South still houses a good number of this illegal species.

Seeking Kampyongos permission to take these creatures LIVE on FB, every time we see them rampaging through his command.
