Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili has expressed concern over advertisements that display images and messages that are disturbing and likely to corrupt the moral standing of society.

Speaking in a press statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka, Ms Sumaili said the vice is against the national values and principles as outlined in part II of the Republican Constitution.

She explained that the media is a powerful tool of socialization in society as it shapes and fashions public opinion through the use of wide outreach platforms to individuals and organisations.

Ms Sumaili has since urged companies to ensure that they develop advertisements that promote national values and principles.

She added that advertisements should not in any way deliberately or otherwise undermine the national values and principles.

Ms Sumaili reiterated her Ministry’s commitment to working with institutions charged with the responsibility of ensuring that the advertisements comply with national values and principles.

    • When the boys at UNZA complained about how female students dress in the library this woman and her friends supported the female students. This woman should find a job because she doesn’t have one.

    • This minister is very dull.Which adverts are you referring to so that we analyze the advert and tell you whether you are lying and just want to show and pretend that you are working.Mention the adverts.PF kuwayawayafye

    • You re a problem madam. Your fellow ministers are highly likely to corrupt morals compared to those adverts you saw. Including your mayor for Lusaka.

    • A Ministry that has no reason for existence as it just takes resources away from needful ministries. Offensive adverts have originating sources to whom the minister can address her concerns

  3. When you have nothing to do you try to make yourself relevant by commenting and interfering on every aspect of life just to justify your salary at the end of the day.

  4. mama Sumaili spend time asking for guidance for yourself and also for forgiveness in stealing the Zambian tax payers money as you are a very insignificant figure and your ministry does not make sense. Where are you when people are being beaten up. where are when you should be in the forefront of peace and reconcilliation?

  5. CAN a citizen take the president to court for Introducing unnecessary cabinet posts? It’s our money not his that he is misusing. Any pro Bono lawyers out there?
