Calls for President Edgar Lungu to be Patriotic Front (PF) s sole candidate for the 2021 general elections have continued to grow, despite the party’s constitution having a provision that allows any member to challenge the incumbent at the party convention to be held before the general elections.

In the latest support for this call, PF youths in Northern Province have unanimously endorsed the candidature of President Edgar Lungu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2021 general elections.

This came to light when scores of Patriotic Front (PF) youths staged a solidarity march in support of President Lungu in Kasama yesterday.

Speaking on behalf of the jubilant youths, Malamba Sichilima said PF youth members in the district are in total support of President Lungu’s candidature in the next presidential election as upheld by the Constitutional Court.

He observed that the Head of State’s leadership qualities and approach to national development has been exceptional and that Northern Province has benefited from the equitable distribution of the national wealth.

Mr. Sichilima added that the party President has continued to adhere to his developmental agenda for the country and as such deserves another term of office in 2021, in order to continue fostering development in the various sectors of the economy.

He charged that the unprecedented infrastructure development such as the construction of the Youth Skills Training centres taking in the province will empower many young people to acquire survival skills.

Mr. Sichilima further said the ongoing construction of schools and health posts by government has helped to create job opportunities for youths in the Province.

Meanwhile, PF Lunte district Youth Chairperson Charles Kapembwa praised President Lungu for running an inclusive government.

He said as a result many PF members and Zambians in general were impressed with his leadership style.

Mr. Sichilima has since called on ruling party members in Northern Province to continue rallying behind the PF top leadership in order to foster unity of purpose in the party.

And Muchinga Province PF Women’s Chairperson Mary Chifuna said that the decision by the Constitutional Court to declare President Lungu eligible to stand in the General Elections in 2021 is a victory for all party members.

Ms Chifuna said the court ruling is good for the party to continue preparing for the 2021 general elections.

She stated that the party in the province has already adopted President Lungu as its sole candidate in the 2021 general elections.

Ms Chifuna added that the ConCourt ruling has just consolidated the party’s resolve and decision to have President Lungu as its candidate in the 2021 General Elections.

She observed that President Lungu is very popular and people’s best preferred choice for presidency hence the fever and panic in some opposition political parties .

Ms. Chifuna said the party is strong in the province and has continued to mobilise itself in readiness for the 2021 general elections.

The ConCourt yesterday ruled that President Lungu is eligible to contest the 2021 General Elections.

  1. Stupidity of the highest order…no wonder you let chaps who can not debate or host a Press conference without cowering behind Press Assistants!!

    • Let them go ahead, in fact let them build their tower of babel with mud even higher, so that its fall will be greater than the fall of the Berlin war. The few mad dogs and beneficiaries of the corrupt regime think that they can always have it their way. Let them wait and see and wail and cry. Styupiti *****tss.

    • The
President himself should shoot it down and put democracy and insist there will be a conversion.

He will be looked at in between light.

Ofcourse it makes sense for him to lead them but due process is something he should embrance.

Those calling for him are mere yes men.

      I hold a PhD

      Thanks

    • Shivers running down the spines of the little god and his worshipers. UNDER FIVE will fish a dry one in 2021 HAGAIN, they know.

    • The Con Court NEVER ruled that Lungu is eligible for 2021. Please do not mislead people. Read the judgement again.
“As regards the second question posed in the amended Originating Summons, which is whether the incumbent President is eligible for election as president in the 2021 presidential election, our view is that, in light of the position that we have taken as regards the first question pos~d in the amended Originating Summons, the second question has become otiose and WE SHALL NOT CONSIDER IT.” (CON COURT).

SIMILARLY, THE CON COURT NEVER RULED THAT LUNGU WON THE 2016 ELECTIONS. It never considered it.

  2. Lungu should face internal PF contest and all other parties likewise .Zambian parties are notoriously unhealthy when it comes to internal democracy with some going decades without national party convention.

  3. Oh please just keep your opinion to yourselves ,you’re intimidating would be candidates. PF is a democratic party and late the ballot speak. In Africa we creat our own monsters because of our attitudes towards ourselves. PF members please stop, this kind of talk coming from people who want to be viewed that they have the party at heart. They just want the favour of the president . The real people who truly like the president don’t speak in public.

  4. Just endorse him without the SOLE candidature nonsense. Let whoever has the ambition contest at the convention. Do you also want to be like hakainde’s grouping where the top seat is reserved for the His majesty the wamuyayaya?

  5. If we accept this, we must ask (1) How is the illusion constructed? (2) Why is it constructed, and (3) Is it really benign?

  6. Whoever came up with the rule of putting an incumbent President through a convention must be a hypocritical dictator trying to deceive people that he is democratic. The truth of the matter is no one in Zambia will ever compete with an incumbent at a party convention and win.

This just creates hatred chaos unnecessary divisions and creates victims of those that even dared challenge the incumbent, and the list is long in Zambia and starts with Simon Kapwepwe. Despite such rich history and lessons, why do parties add this clause to their constitutions.

Please do it the US style. An incumbent president does not go through primaries. Once a president is elected by the party he is free to run for two terms. There will be no primaries for Donald Trump.

    • MMD Chief Bootleaker
Sir with due respect to the American system, the Conservative Party just subjected their incumbent to a vote of no confidence. She survived the vote but had to concede that she will not stand at the next election. In civilised where people do not dance for Nshima, Party leader actually respect and fear their members. Zambia is a country known for opportunism and they are always outdoing each other as the most shameless psychophant.

  7. Hardly a headline news item. Its obvious that the incumbent wouldn’t be challenged inyernally as Chief Bootlicker has said.
Meanwhile we want the UPND in opposition to hold a convention. Why is Kainde scared?

  8. Is this news? Tell those PF cadres that this is planting time, what are you going to eat between now and 2021 Lungu sole PF candidate?

  9. This is one cancerous and irrational characteristic of Zambian politics which has made us not to develop. Barely half a term in office and people are already focused on the next elections. It’s not campaign time, please! By the way did those unemployed and unproductive PF youths get a police permit? I guess it was a diplomatic permit issued at the speed of light.

    • They don`t even apply for permits, if it is other people the cops would have been busy with xmas duties one wonders what that is any way. Already cadres thinking with their pockets and not their brain coz a few have that….. most of them 0 IQ

  10. THIS REMINDS ME ABOUT WHAT WE USED TO READ IN TIMES PAST, “CALLS FOR CHILUBA TO GO FOR A THIRD TERM CONTINUE TO GROW”, THEN WITHIN MMD RESENTMENT STARTED TO GROW LEADING TO MANY MEMBERS BEING FLUSHED OUT OF MMD, CHILUBA INTRODUCED DISTRICT ADMINISTRATORS, FUNDED THEM AND THEIR MAIN DUTY WAS TO SING THE THIRD TERM, BUT DID HE FINALLY SUCCEED, HE DID NOT BECAUSE THE PEOPLE POWER IS GREATER THAN POWER OF ONE GREEDY INDIVIDUAL. HISTORY ALWAYS REPEATS ITSELF BUT WE ALWAYS PRETEND NOT TO KNOW THE PAST IN ORDER TO SATISFY OUR OWN SELFISH EGOS AND I AM SURE TODAY THEIR ARE PEOPLE WRONGLY ADVISING THE “ALFA AND THE OMEGA” THAT HIS SITUATION IS DIFFERENT BECAUSE HE IS WISER THAN THOSE THAT PRECEDED HIM, THESE ADVISERS ARE DOING THIS NOT FOR THE “ALFA” BUT FOR THEIR CONTINUED BENEFIT IN A…

  11. @MMD Chief Bootlicker, that is the truth we should learn to face the reality of political life. I always enjoy your contributions which are based on facts, maturity and responsibility.

  12. There is too much hustling in these political parties. Most of these cadres would go to an extent of licking president Lungu’s shoes in order to be recognized. If Lungu steps on their toes, they would rather apologize than Lungu apologizing. There is one minister who always laughs even when Lungu cracks a dry joke. Those are attributes of hustlers. In any organization, there are hustlers who are typical bootlickers. Women will wriggle their waists for the president in order to be recognized. There is even corporate hustlers. They will put on mini skirts to attract the attention of the manager. They will even change their accent for them to be recognized. Such people are snobs who will go a mile to be recognized by management. An organization, like a political party, should be wary of such…
