Hearts of Mercy Reverend Choongo Phiri has assured members of the Zambia Evangelical Fellowship (EFZ) of full representation at the ongoing national dialogue forum at Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

Rev. Phiri said Hearts of Mercy is a member of EFZ and was appointed by the Church mother body to represent it’s members at the forum which is contrary to claims that the EFZ has shunned the national dialogue forum.

She explained to the media in Lusaka today that EFZ wrote letters to the Ministry of Justice which forwarded the request to Cabinet Office where the approval of their participation in the forum was ratified.

The Reverend noted that the ongoing national dialogue forum is an important process that her Church and the EFZ at large cannot afford to stay away from.

She added that Hearts of Mercy is in attendance not just on behalf of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia but to also represent its members who are the majority.

Rev. Phiri said their presence at the forum is to make sure that the constitution that would come out after the dialogue will be good enough to protect the people.

She stated that the EFZ has a lot of beneficiaries from all provinces including churches such as the Catholic, Christian Council and independent Churches.

Rev. Phiri noted that Hearts of Mercy is also representing other Churches that are still growing and cannot manage the costs of affiliating themselves to EFZ or any other Church mother body.

  1. Sad Zambia can’t make a reasonable constitution all these years. Look at how much money has gone down the bottomless process over the years. No wonder we can’t develop. Is the constitution the most urgent thing to be addressed now while people are languishing in poverty? More than half the country was hit by drought and yet we are wasting time on this useless process which we shall soon be revisiting. Atase

  2. Imfwa iwe Chongo, those Mother f^ckers raised money to build a PF den called National House Prayers. Are you representing those who did ground breaking for that fake church? I want my money back, don’t play with God’s people.
    National this, national that

  3. THE EFZ IS TOO PROUD TO COME OUT IN THE OPEN TO ADMIT THAT THEY MADE A BLUNDER BY SIDING WITH THE UPND CLANDESTINE MEETING AT CATHEDRAL OF THE HOLY CROSS THAT WAS ILL-FATED. GOD RESISTS THE PROUD BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. THIS HEARTS OF MERCY IS JUST A WAY OF ATTENDING THE DIALOGUE IN A VERY “NICODEMUS” WAY. WHAT A SHAME.

  4. I remember how churches divided in 1997 at Mulungushi rock because Chiluba’s third term campaign. The churches were even exchanging abusive language. Some clergymen like CAMNET pastor Mr. Chiluba received ridicule till now, pastor chihana,Bishop mambo etc were left disgruntled and frustrated till this day.
In 2009 drama was characterized at cathedral of the holy cross, churches went feigned because of the so called church mother bodies riding on politburo. PF received its blessing right away there church married PF till 2011 .
The different version is in UPND.Has UPND married to the church yet.? Though personally I see HH is not a popularism church figure compared to His contemplate presidential figures, thus including ECL who is a modern avacular figure in Zambian politics.

  5. This is indeed something painful for Trib.al Hacks, but do I sympathise with him? Not at all, his fault to choose politics and messed himself up. But will never be President of Zambia.

  6. There things that a churchgoer can do nothing about, such as Church doctrine. You have no say on doctrine, you just have to obey. When it comes to politics nobody can tell you you who to follow, to join, support, stand for.

  7. Phiri, why are you exculpating yourself even when no one is perusing you? Is it PF anikonde?
Is it fear of the PF Act on Dia sorry, Monologue? That Act is a null and void one because it was crafted in order to legalize PF illegals using arrogance of PF numbers in Parliament! Bad Laws have short legs and lifespan! They will be repealed soon and the Architects of bad Laws will have to account for their misdeeds one day!

    • By boycotting you’re only giving the PF more leverage. If you are present, you’re able to put your feelings across. Example is the intended introduction of sales tax. After presentations and protestations by stakeholders government has decided to go on a countrywide consultations. Same with zesco tariffs.
