Kaoma Town Council Chairperson, Bindundu Mutti has resigned from the United Party for National Development UPND following a suspension by Party President Mr Hakainde Hichilema for attending a State Function.
Speaking to Journalists at Chrismar Hotel in Lusaka yesterday afternoon, Mutti said he had served the opposition party with diligence and humility since joining them in 2012 but that he was no longer ready to work with people who are bent on mistreating people that work for them with impunity.
“Fellow Zambians, there comes a time in everyone’s life to make a decision for a better tomorrow.”
“I have been a member of the UPND since 2012 and have executed my duties diligently. My contribution to the UPND is unquestionable. However, lately, the behaviour of the party leadership has left me baffled,” he lamented.
Muthi revealed that ever since attending the Pass out Parade for the Zambia Correctional Service and Commissioning of Nyangu rural health centre which was officiated by President Lungu, he had recieved the most unfair treatment from the UPND which had shocked him because he was obliged to attend the State Function as President Lungu is President for all Zambians.
“I find it strange for UPND leadership to want to punish me for such an undertaking. Enough is enough. I have persevered for a long time but I feel it is now time to move on. One would wonder why all regions excerpt Southern and Central Provinces have Council Chairpersons, Councillors and MPs being punished for attending state functions. ”
“I find this segregative attitude to be strange. Therefore, I want to tell the nation that I have today, Monday, the 22nd day of July 2019, resigned from the UPND as a member and also as Council Chairperson for Kaoma Town Council,” he said.
He announced that he was joining the ruling Patriot Front with immediate effect because President Lungu had proved to be an all inclusive, progressive and just leader who means well for Zambia, Western Province and Kaoma in particular.

The people that have failed is not HH or UPND but the Zambian people who have themselves failed to distinguish between right or wrong. Honestly how can one resign just like that and quickly join the ruling PF. Did this guy ever believe in the UPND vision…?? I doubt it very much. The upnd livingstone mp rev Howard sikwela was made part of a team of four ministers, finance, tourism, local government and works and supply who were inspecting building projects and cleaning exercise of Livingston in readiness for the world tourism conference. He was suspended by HH for inspecting projects in his own constituency. Sikwela resigned from upnd joined pf. Upnd ended up loosing the Livingston by election.

During the late Mazoka’s reign of the once strongest opposition party to MMD, UPND had a national character with a good number of seats in Parliament. The question is has the number of seats increased after the demise of Mozoka or it is decreasing? Politics is about numbers.
