PF accuses UPND of humiliating and brutalising the disabled

Share

PRESS STATEMENT FROM PATRIOTIC FRONT SECRETARY GENERAL HON DAVIES MWILA

UPND OUTSIDE PARLIAMENT AND UPND IN PARLIAMENT SHOULD STOP HUMILIATING AND BRUTALISING THE DISABLED

Constitutional Amendment Bill number 10 seeks to secure equal opportunities and equal rights for all people with disabilities by guaranteeing representation in parliament for persons with disability.

This will go a long way in breaking institutional, physical, and societal barriers that prevent people with disabilities from living their lives like other citizens.

It is a pity that the UPND leader who is obsessed with selfish ambitions sees no value in such a noble and progressive intention as promulgated in Bill 10.

It is bad enough for UPND to reject the Mixed Member Proportional Representation system (MMPR) whose aim is to give voice to persons who are disabled, women and the youth a chance to be represented in the National Assembly of Zambia.

1. HICHILEMA’S DESPERATION IS SPIRALLING UPND TO RECORD LOWS

For Hichilema led UPND bitterness to sink to the cold-hearted level of physically assaulting and verbally abusing a Lusaka woman Mirriam Kasoleka is not only cruel and insensitive but INHUMAN.

This is a new record low even for a party with a long bloodthirsty history of the violent “Mapatizya formula and whose infamous record of violence started before most of the current political parties including the ruling party and long before most of the current Zambian population was even born.

And now their latest brutal act happened after a disabled woman- Mirriam Kasoleka peacefully attempted to deliver a petition to UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema‘s residence, to allow his members of parliament support the plight of disabled.

2. UPND ATTEMPTS TO COVER UP THEIR CRUELTY AGAINST THE DISABLED IS ATROCIOUS

And instead of owning up and apologising for their assault; UPND,(as always)in a bizarre attempt to cover up their cruelty, are now inexplicably accusing Ms. Julien Mwape of Persons with Disabilities being “bought” by us.
This is her case; she is among the very few educated persons in her community
She is a potential MP should Bill 10 be passed.

3. WHY IS HICHILEMA BEING SO COLDHEARTED TO BLOCK A BILL THAT BENEFITS THE DISABLED AND MARGINALISED?

Why is it contentious for Hichilema and UPND that women, youths and persons with disabilities be represented in Parliament and councils?

If they really mean well and if they hold that it is not a contentious issue, then why are they absconding debate in parliament when it comes to ensuring that the interests of the disabled, women and youth are represented?

4. MANY UPND MP’S WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DISABLED THROUGH BILL 10; BUT HICHILEMA IS BLACKMAILING THEM WITH THREATS OF NON-ADOPTION.

The nation is aware that there are many other progressive minded UPND who in their hearts are supporting the representation of the disabled and other aspects of Bill 10. However, they are being held ransom by their leader through threats of non-adoption in 2021.

5. UPND MP’S SHOULD FOLLOW THEIR CONSCIENCE AND SUPPORT THE DISABLED THROUGH BILL 10

We empathise with the many UPND MP’s who are caught between supporting their leader and his insensitive attitude towards the Disabled and Bill 10; or supporting the disabled community, women and youth through passing Bill 10.

We urge them to put loyalty to the people of Zambia above loyalty to the personal political interests of one individual.

There is totally no justification for walking out or withdrawing the Bill when procedure in parliament allows the cleaning of the Bill by removing clauses which have been opposed and promoting clauses such as the Mixed Member Proportional Representation system which women and the youth and the disabled have been looking forward to.

Hichilema and UPND must stop their physical violence against the disabled outside parliament; and they should stop continuing to hurt the disabled in parliament by walking out.

Patriotic Front Secretary General

  1. This is a retarded argument. Everyone is very clear why Bill 10 has issues. There is no one I have heard complain about this red herring

    • @Splaka. Far from it, I don’t know if listened to the case the PF MPs have been making, it’s all around clauses that will appeal to lot of people emotionally, as if the same clauses were not there in Draft constitution that came under MCS,

    • when last did they get their social cash transfer from the caring PF? Why cant she use the same energy to protest so that the disabled and elderly are paid the social cash transfer money?

  2. We must really be stupid to be ruled by these blood seeking ritualists. Now they will use Coronavirus to collect blood for their rituals.
People please let’s wake up and get these things out of office

  3. This is so low for the PF. How desperate they are for bill 10 to pass. They will use anyone and anything just to get the bill across for the sake of a few clauses that benefit them greatly. PF should be ashamed for parading the disabled to do a protest and shame on those disabled for going ahead with their unwarranted protest because despite PF stealing their money which the donors ended up getting back they never protested. I have never heard the UPND say the clause in the bill regarding the disabled is bad, a properly crafted bill can be brought in parliament but clearly PF know why they badly want just the same bill to go ahead because they know it stands to benefit them mostly.

  4. GRAVITY HAS A WAY OF DEALING WITH DULL PEOPLE, YOU HAD THE PREVILAGE TO SERVE THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE HONOURABLY YOU CHOOSE GREED AS YOUR MAIN THEME.
    WATCH THIS SPACE., LISA TALALA!

  5. The Public Order Act is implemented in a discriminatory manner favouring the ruling PF party and its cadres. What will stop PF from implementing the bill regarding the disabled in a manner which will mainly benefit PF? What is embarrassing is sponsoring PF affiliated disabled people to mount a petition at a private house of HH. Only dull people are not able to see these actions as PF sanctioned machinations.

  6. In essence without bill 10 PF are to the disabled we won’t and are not caring for you until bill 10 passes. How cruel that PF should subject the disabled people to such rhetoric. Clearly PF have failed in leadership.

    • I am Davies and his PF think abuse is just physical abuse. Neglect be it physical or educational neglect amounts to abuse. And by involving these vulnerable people in your schemes is the worst form of emotional abuse you can inflect on them. Shame on you.

  7. HOW? Social cash transfer meant for disadvantaged people – Stolen, Remember during the KK days we used to have nominated disabled MP’s in Parliament – how many do we have now? ZERO. How many disabled people are in positions of influence in your party or Govt? Wala. HH is just an ordinary individual like any of us, so please stop ABUSING disabled people.

    15
  8. Why take a petition to HH’S house don’t they have an office where that bill could be taken? In a time of Corona Virus it is very surprising that the police would grant a go ahead to a group of people to go protest at the private home of someone.

  9. Please PF stop the emotional appeal.
It worries me that all the members of PF that debate Bill 10 are a using the disabled, christian nation, chiefs and the 14 day con-court appeal. There is more than just these in Bill 10 so can PF MPs use and debate other clauses.
Bravo to all the Honourable MPs that walked out of parliament.
I’m sure they are some people who don’t know or understand why MPs walk out of parliament, PLEASE Feel free to ask and debate me.

  10. How were they given a permit to protest at a private residence? Ba Davis if you are being sincere, what stopped the party in government from giving the 8 free nominations to the disabled? Allow these institutions to be led by persons that have the skills to do so not on account of their disability. Ms. Mwape has failed lamentably to.provide leadership to her organisation. She should have protested against govt when none of her member was nominated to parliament. KK was the only one that did such favours. No president has repeated that mistake

  12. CK was right! The Prize for “Chipuba Number One” goes to this guy!
Who brutalized the disabled by stealing their Social Cash transfer money?
PF is determined to overthrow Zambians so that the balance of power tilts in PF’s favor! What is shocking is how the Zambians can be blindly squabbling about Bill 10 when their currency is in free fall. How can the currency fall by K3 in two weeks and neither government official nor citizen is talking about it? Is this not Ostrich mindset?

  13. To you who went to protest the bill you are selfish because you are only looking at the clause that benefits you and overlooking other clauses and what they may mean for the country. Once PF uses you to accomplish their wishes with bill 10 they will discard you like they have done with more money in your pockets, more jobs for the youth etc. The constitution isn’t something we need to deal with emotionally.

  14. @Jane Karima. For sure the PF needs to answer these questions.
How many differently abled MPs did ECL/PF nominate to parliament? ZERO.
How many differently abled individuals did PF central committee adopt to stand as MPs? ZERO.
How many youths (individuals between the ages of 15 and 35 based on AU Youth Charter) did ECL/PF nominate to parliament? ZERO
How many youth (individuals between the ages of 15 and 35 based on AU Youth Charter) did PF central committee adopt to stand as MPs? Only 1 Listed Tembo of Kaumbwe Constituency.
How many women did ECL/PF nominate to parliament? only 2, 3 if you count vice president.
How many women did PF central committee adopt to stand as MPs? 15. This is encouraging for women but not good enough considering they are championing gender equality…

  16. Where exactly in Bill 10 does it say their will be privileges for persons with disabilities to be represented in public office or parliament? Which article in the amendment document addresses this? I am a person with disabilities and I did not see anything in Bill 10 that addresses this issue. Why is Mr Mwila talking about?

  17. How I fear for the masses who dont take time to read, the people who vote because of songs. such dense arguments may, unfortunately, find room in some people.
To reduce the whole Bill 10 to that one agreeable clause is idiocy of the highest level. And as others above me have commented, the PF ought to look at their own record as regards minorities if they are to play that card.

  18. Enough. Pass the Bill already!

We understand that you are opposition but just for few months cant we put politics aside and work together to fight this virus ? Mr hh you have a good platform to help this country. Do what is best for country for once. Very disappointing. Kz

  20. A year ago a woman was hacked by PF thugs at Intercity bus terminus for wearing a UPND chitenge so Mr. Mwila (no Grade 12 certificate) must not lecture to us about Women’s Human Rights. How did a poor woman locate HH’s home in the bush and who bused her there. Where was this woman, other differently abled people and Mrs. Mwape when 48 houses were exposed, ambulances bought, fire tenders, Presidential jet, why didn’t she go to HH’s house to ask him to compel his MPs to debate or raise the scandals’ in parliament because theft of public resources affects citizens directly . Mr. Mwila please don’t insult our intelligence we know the game you are playing.

  21. But iwe Mwila why are yr pipo desperately advocating for bill 10?
Does it not in any way ring in yr skopodonono that something is wrong?
No matter what you say to Hell with yr bill!
Use it at yr home if you feel it’s good.
Don’t wear us down with same monotonous story.
In case u were young by then,1990 wind of change from Unip Kaunda wamuyaya,
    2001Chiluba and third term issue,
    2011 RB cries ,
So don’t take us for kids even if you say amalofwa yonse will be getting gratuity with bill 10 in place,we don’t need it.

  22. How did Mansa central MP Mr Chilangwa also disabled person became MP without existence Bill 10?
    Check mate PF.

  23. The PF would do well to simply admit that bill 10 will give them a life line in the impending political annihilation. You guys have pissed off too many of us and it’s nutty! You lie that bill 10 will be upnd’s greatest chance for them to be in power. Since when did you PF imb3syls care for the opposition so much that you needed to help them get into power via a bill? As for our dear disabled sisters na mabrothers you’re playing too much in the hands of that devil. Remember he who goes to dinner with shonongo must carry a long spoon or risk being turned into the devil’s menu item.

  24. Kz let the woman call at your house and collect some tax payers cash from you . Massive d1ck head
