PF has Held More By-Election than UNIP and MMD Combined – Nalumango

Share

“The number of by-elections that we have witnessed as a country during the 9-year rule of the Patriotic Front is equal to the total number of elections held between 1964 and 2011,” says UNITED PARTY FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT National Chairman, Mutale Nalumango.

Speaking on Revelation TV’s “Delight Morning Live” today, Nalumango says the PF’s insatiable appetite for by-elections stems from its inferior complex and fear for the unknown while trying to comfort itself with some cosmetic popularity.

Mrs Nalumango says the PF in its desperate attempts to cling onto power has subjected the country to high poverty levels which have unfortunately not spared the mostly young civic leaders who have gone for months without pay.

Asked on the UPND’s performance in the just ended 15 local Government by elections, the Party Chairman said the PF used corruption and deception to lure voters into voting for them and desperately hold onto power.

She said the material hand outs that exchanged hands during the campaigns as well as the persistent political violence should be discouraged as it leads to high voter apathy which is a danger to the country’s 29 year old democracy.

She has since called on the Patriotic Front, ECZ and the police to make the political playing field level for all political parties as the country heads towards the 2021 General elections.

On assertions that the UPND planned to dethrone some traditional leaders once in Government, Mrs Nalumango who laughed at the aspersions said such rhetoric was not part of the Party’s Manifesto.

She described such assertions as the work of enemies of democracy bent on interfering in the roles of traditional leadership in the country.

  1. Actually much more.
The current by-elections are mostly created by the PF themselves through buying of opposition Councillors.

  3. Nomba whose fault is that ? When an mp or office holder dies, is that our fault? If you feel aggrieved you should have submitted that as part of a change request to the constitution under bill 10. Don’t complain when you shun these forums. Suffer in silence since you want to politicise things that may actually help you in end. You say there are many by elections, are you upset because you have not won any single one of them ? 5. That is of no substance.
Moreover you forgot to observe that it’s because of the dead opposition that is capable of corruptly amassing votes in the sp region.
If an elected official resigns because the opposition is dead or dies, you want the ruling part to behave unconstitutionally?
Let’s fix the constitution, ati no. Well deal with it incompetent walk outs.

  7. This is typical statements by zambian shallow politicians. Statements without facts. Tell us that UNIP held so many by elections, MMD so many & compare that to PF who have held so many. Not fyo.to. Fyo.to

  8. @Independent, If the PF is buying UPND members, question is who is selling them? UPND should concede defeat in the 2021 election even before we vote. Its PF through to 2026

  11. It has not yet dawned on them that they are the ruling party, they were not ready to takeover power in 2011 and they will never be, that’s why they are ever campaign rally mode, no work all play.

  13. UPND really has never explained to us their road map. As much as we don’t want PF, they at the least show what the aim to do. They also give out their manifesto; then kampyongo and the tourism minister crook happen. kikikiki. Zambian politics are tiring and sad.

  14. The moment UPND councillors stop resigning, we won’t have these elections. Nalumango, take responsibility than shift the responsibility

  16. I like this: “Nalumango says the PF’s insatiable appetite for by-elections stems from its inferior complex and fear for the unknown while trying to comfort itself with some cosmetic popularity.”
This is the best description for these goons. Just why hold so many by-elections in such a small space of time. Its wasteful and irresponsible at its waste example. But its not fear of the unknown but fear of the known fact that they are losing to UPND kwasila!
    Disaster!!!
