The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) says it has instituted investigations to establish the cause of the defects in the recalled Cevite Tablets bearing batch numbers 0371572 and 0372251 that was imported by Shalina Pharmaceuticals (Z) Limited.
ZAMRA has further stated that the quality analysis of the product is on-going and the public will be informed of the outcome in due course.
Speaking in a press statement issued to the media yesterday, ZAMRA Senior Public Relations Officer Christabel Mutale says the Authority has since quarantined all batches of Cevite Tablets at Shalina Pharmaceuticals (Z) Limited and is in constant communication with the company to monitor the recall process.
Ms. Mutale has since advised members of the public to report products which may be exhibiting signs of deterioration to the Authority for further investigations and appropriate regulatory action.
ZAMRA has further called upon all license holders to adhere to Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and monitor products in their possession at all times.
Cevite Tablets are used for Low levels of vitamin c, Scurvy, Vitamin deficiency and other conditions.
What has ZAMRA done or not done for us lately? It’s too late, the people of Zambia are coming for u at an appropriate time so that u explain wht the hell has been going on and not going on.
How did those medicines get into the country and how did they get distributed in the first place? Trying to please us with recalls. Be proactive and not reactive
Are pharmacies supposed to bring drugs directly into the country? Or is this not done by an approved agency and then that agency runs all regulatory processes before distributing the drugs to the next level?
This is what the nation gets when professionals throw ethics out of the window for their personal gain. It is criminal to allow defective medicines to circulate in a country who health delivery system is already stressed.
Well done ba zamra but pama condoms I still believe only married people should be having sex so as Christian nation know one should be using condoms
The problem in our country is that there is no accountability. Authorities can do as they wish knowing that nothing can be done to them. We are a banana republic.
Damage control a little too late. Talema mwe!
ZAMRA has been targeting Tuntemba in townships while the bigger players have been supplying toxic medical supplies to Boma. The Pharmaceutical Society has always been at loggerheads with MoH because of substandard products by connected individuals. The greedy of individuals is damaging our country. These things will take time to heal
