And after he received the award on behalf of President Lungu, Mr. Mwamba said President Lungu led concerted efforts to ensure that broad consultation were done on the AfCFTA amongst stakeholders.

He said President Lungu also ensured that Cabinet approved the trade agreement and was later ratified by Parliament.

The appreciation Awards Ceremony was held on Friday, 26th February 2021 for African Heads of State and Government whose countries have so far ratified the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

This is contained in a statement signed by First Secretary (Press &Tourism) at the Zambian High Commission in Ethopia, Inutu Mwanza.

Trading under the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement commenced on 1st January 2021.

The AfCFTA offers African businesses and investors the ability to conduct ninety (97) percent of their trade, tariff free.

The AfCFTA will create a combined GDP of over $2 trillion and offers a lucrative market of about 1.3 billion people.

Mr. Mwamba said Zambia’s accession to the Agreement reaffirmed its commitment to continental integration, to the implementation of the African Union Agenda 2063, so that Africa could reap maximum benefits, such as creation of employment for the youths from the implementation of the AfCFTA.

  1. They have not got anything to honour that is why they’ve honoured him . The economy which he is supposed to run is on it’s knees and they have honoured him.For what reason have they honoured this man ? He has presided over a number of what can be preceived as government abuse of the rule of law while he looks away .He has allowed a system that is making politics a means to get rich and not hard work . Honouring the man is an insult to the poor people of Kapisha and chiwempala compound in Chingola who have never had tap water and sewerage system for years .This is the same town that produces the riches which has been shared in Lusaka by political thieves .

  4. Lazy Lungu is making Africa a trade free when his country imports 80% of products from RSA….here is another bootlicker Mwamba craving for relevance especially with elections approaching. This is the guy who wanted to stand for Matero seat but at the same time enjoying the diplomatic status in RSA.

  5. Someone said something I would not like to write about AU and African Leaders and I totally agree with him. If you want to know what he said search around and you will see reasons why they can even honor Idi Amin posthumously.
