The Patriotic Front (PF) has called for the dismissal of the protesting Resident Doctors.
Party Media Director Antonio Mwanza has charged that the doctors have no justification to down tools as government has already paid what is due to them.
He says the PF government has continued to prioritize the health sector and will therefore not entertain the illegal strike from residents doctors.
And Mr. Mwanza has also disclosed that the PF has impeccable information that some Doctors are working with known opposition political parties to sabotage the government.
“We are extremely dismayed by the unprofessional and unethical conduct by the resident Doctors who have decided to go on strike even when government has met their demands,” he said.
The PF Media Director further added that it is shocking and unethical that the doctors have decided to go on a go slow and allow patients to die at their watch even when government has already cleared their arrears.
“When government paid them all the money they have now changed the narrative and now talking that government must pay other doctors and that government must
Change the condition of service for doctors,” Mr. Mwanza added.
Mr. Mwanza explained that the Resident Doctor’s Association of Zambia is not registered as a union to bargain for worker’s condition of service.
He charged that the PF will not allow unappreciative doctors who after being trained by tax payers money can down tools and allow patients to die on their watch.
Mr. Mwanza said it is the duty of doctors to protect lives and must not for any reason run away from their oath.
He has since appealed to government to take disciplinary action and dismiss all the Resident doctors who have gone on strike.
The PF Media Director charged that the country has a lot of doctors who not yet employed and are willing and ready to work for the people of Zambia.

In what capacity is this opportunist speaking? I thought this matter is supposed to be handled by government. We have Permanent Secretaries from the Ministries of Information, Labour and Health who should be speaking about this problem
Please let’s resolve doctor’s plight. These people need to be happy to serve. Sit down with them nicely and discuss with them on a give and take basis. Don’t intimidate them with arrest and dismissal. Let experts only to comment. Not the police and media directors, they are not experts.
Antonio Mwanza is very disappointing for his to dismiss resident doctor who have outstanding issues with their employer PF GRZ. Having student union leader at one time understands the subject at hand. Instead of finding solutions to the current problem which I feel the PF Govt have the capacity to solve but due misplaced priorities and wrong advisors things have reached to such levels. The Drs say they have not been their dues yet. The ECL Govt should address the demands of the Drs urgently and in view of Covid-19. This ECL Govt has alienated Drs, Nurses, Lecturers, Students and the masses at large. With a record of Rampant Corruption, Burning Markets, Gassing People, high cost of living, violence,thuggery and lawlessness, killings, incompetency etc. Who in his Right mind would vote cruel ECL? The timing is wrong to down tools when all governments across the globe are struggling with resources to sort out the COVID. To some extent, these are not genuine doctors called to serve, these are the ones the people complain about as poor performers in the hospitals coz to them it’s just employment. They should cheat themselves that some countries in Africa needs them after they have been fired, all countries have sufficient numbers now competing to be employed. How can you all demand to be promoted coz you have attained certain level of qualification? Supervision position are few in any institution, not even in your own homes. Antonio Mwanza are you drunk? What qualifies you to determine what is professional and ethical conduct by doctors? Do you have a medical degree? Do you have a degree in Medical Ethics? Do you even have qualifications in employment law? Keep politics out of a labour grievance. Every labourer has the right to withdraw labour if they are not satisfied with the conditions of service.
