Colonel Panji Kaunda says Dr Kenneth Kaunda’s family does not want to start talking about the burial and funeral arrangements of the country’s founding father.
Reacting to the statement from the government that it was the wish of Dr Kaunda’s family that the remains of their late father be taken around the country, Col Panji said “that is the issue with the government.”
Asked if it was true that that was their wish as a family as the government is claiming, Col Panji said the family will not engage itself into talking about “the old man’s burial.”
“That is the issue with government. They are still within government circles. We have decided as a family not to talk about the old man’s burial. Confirm with the government spokesperson they will tell you our position,” said Col Panji, who is the late president’s first born child.
Efforts to speak with information permanent secretary Amos Malupenga failed as his phone went unanswered.
But Malupenga and Kaweche were on ZNBC confirming that the burial programme announced by the VP will go ahead and that the family agreed with it???
KK’s family should be consulted and involved in all burial plans ,absolutely NO EXCUSES for anything else.
The KK Family are part of the problem. They should have One Family Spokesman. As it is Panji says this and Kaweche says this. KK left a Will detailing that his remains be interred at the State Lodge and next to his wife’s grave. Both the KK Family and Govt of the Day must respect the Dead on his burial. On flying his Body to Provincial Centres the Parties should consider: the expense and the Covid-19 Pandemic situation. To have huge gatherings at Provincial Centres coming to see the Coffin in the absence of Body Viewing will make those gatherings Covid-19 Super Spreader gatherings . The exercise will be costly. Why not save that Money to buy Covid-19 Testing Kits or Covid-19 Vaccines?
The old man knew he was was going to die any time soon but he had his wishes and definitely, Inonge and her fellow wizards in PF must respect Kaunda’s wishes.
The Kaunda family is a solid one unlike the previous dead presidents where the government would preempt the weak family members and bulldoze its way.
I’m very sure Kaunda never wanted to be buried at embassy park rather next to his wife.
Inonge must understand our African values and guide the drunken master without moral fibre.
PF must go!
By implication the family was not consulted. This was forced on them. But honestly in the midst of such a pandemic?
PF never litsens to others.
KK’s remains are a state property. Preferences of were to bury him should be decided by the State. BUT I do not agree with flying a dead body everywhere.
The upnd sponsored part of the family are ones causing problems. We know then. Opportunists
These 3 KK Brothers are confusing us. They should appoint an official Family Spokesman to address the 2 issues outstanding. On the Burial Site. Both the KK Family and ECL Govt should respect the wishes of the Dead. KK’s remains should be buried at State Lodge and next to his wife’s grave. On flying KK’s Body to Provincial Centres. This is costly and will lead to Covid-19 Super Spreading. Besides its costly. Save that Money to buy Covid-19 Testing Kits or Covid-19 Vaccines. Period.
This is Totally Shameless. It’s going to be athe KK EMPTY COFFIN PF CAMPAIGN NATIONAL TOUR.
This is just how desperate & shameless Lungu’s PF Criminal Enterprise of a Government have become. They’re prepared to take an empty coffin on a Election Campaign.
Disgraceful
Inonge should apologize for causing this feud among KK family. I told you KK, that please hang in there, don’t die under PF.
Some idyots start even talking about money. “Expenses”, parnio pobe @Musonda!
How can KK funeral cost your father a ngwee mussatanioco?
I for one don’t see the value and importance of flying the body of KK into provinces. What for really? Our old man is gone, but still remains with us in memory, and in history. I feel he has his finger prints written all over the country through his achievement and I think that’s all it is important. We’re in the wake of the COVID for crying out loud, why making show the death of the head of state?
THE THONE IS WELL PADDED AND COMFORTABLE
SO A FEW PLEAS FOR SANITY AND RESPECT DONT MEAN MUCH UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES
DONT EVEN MENTION COVID WHATS THAT THEY WILL TELL YOU
PF OUT
The programme involving the provincial tours of the remains of our founding father has started. No need now for unnecessary controversies. Let us just pray for the success of the programme and not to wish that it fails because it won’t. Our Almighty God is there to ensure everything goes as planned.
Sure what type of reasoning is this? The opposition wants to take advantage of this fununeral and decision of the burial arrangement as as a political campaign tool? The KK family has done well to side with government because this is a state funeral of the legend of political and economic freedom. Can’t to what thei opposition party is re garding politics today.Everyone is free, elections are held freely. But its strategy it wants to use is what malawi opposition used, intimidating the people wit violence and make them vote in fear.No wonder it has declared itself a winner as a result of violence strategy!! Shame. Thanks to Lt Col PK and his family by not entaining these destrctors.God please and let KK’s RIP.
Let the HEROES body rest in peace and lets all meaningful Zambian respect and support the programme as arranged morever, the guide lines are in place unlike where the the upnd are holding in mobilisation compagns
