Five presidential candidates write to President Lungu, ask him to concede

Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu
President of the Republic of Zambia
State House

Dear President Lungu,

RE: Declaring of August 12 2021 Elections not Free and Fair- Yourself

We the undersigned have received the Press Release from you through your Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations with utmost shock and reservation. It is a fact that the just ended elections where far from being free and fair because the PF under your leadership as Republican President made it practically impossible for the elections to attain the required standard to meet the test of Free and Fair.

You abusively used the Public Order Act to restrict the movement of your political opponents while members of your party were free to mobilize at will. You equally used the Police Service against your political opponents in the name of upholding the Covid-19 Public Health directives with great bias. We all have had our movements across the country restricted during the campaign period at your behest.

It is therefore inconceivable that the very government that created an uneven playing field can today want to delay the election process by seeking to take the legal process in a bid to delay the announcement of election results. Your planned action is not just an abuse of the court process but also tantamount to seeking to usurp the mandate of the Electoral Commission of Zambia – ECZ.

In this regard, we would like to request that you demonstrate magnanimity and accept the outcome of the election without any further delay.

The People of Zambia have spoken and the courts of Law should not be used in any way to circumvent the wishes and aspirations of the People.

We trust you will act with humility and submit to the wishes of the People by conceding defeat and allowing for the succession process to start without any further delay.

Yours in the interest of the nation,
(Presidential Candidates in the 2021 Elections)

Harry Kalaba
Dr. Nevers Mumba
Dr. Fred Mmembe
Ms. Chishala Kateka
Mr Sean Tembo
Bishop Trevor Mwamba

  1. Look at these **** They think hh has won and are after jobs. What they don’t know is that ecl is winning. Ecz always announce hh stronghold first and the upnd always fall for it and start jumping up and down like a kangaroo on steroids. Be patient. I know the results and someone will cry by tomorrow

  2. Edgar is a man in denial. Now that he’s faced with reality he wants to blame others for the damage he has inflicted on state institutions. Edgar rendered the Zambia Police redundant in preference to his cadres. Innocent Kalimanshi started a fight at the Freedom Statue in the presence of defense and security wings, they couldn’t do anything because he was under his protection. Today they’ve paid you back for that humiliation by leaving UPND cadres to as they wish. Edgar wasn’t eligible to be on the ballot but he forced matters and we told him on this forum that the ConCourt doesn’t vote. Zambians have collectively passed their verdict. You’re now own your own, God gave you chance to serve His people but you squandered it. Sorry bwana, your time is up

  3. I didn’t fully support the Left. I didn’t see them win. The clearcut win for UPND is heartwarming and I have already congratulated the Reds. Let’s quickly have a government in place so we move on. Kenneth Kaunda was in 1991 as perplexed and mystified as Edgar Lungu is today.
    One Zambia, 1 people.

  7. Don’t worry folks when ECZ finishes announcing our dear president will step down if h² maintains lead.
    No two ways about it.
    Zambia will have spoken.

  8. Allow for results from all constituencies to be announced. There is no need to put pressure on ECL when results announced are not even from half of all constituencies. HH is a self-conceited man who has never ever conceded defeat to anyone since he joined politics. When it was clear in 2011 that RB was losing to late Sata after results from majority of constituencies were results, it was only ADD President Charles Milupi and NAREP President Elias Chipimo Jnr who conceded. Even after Sata became President, HH never recognised him as President. Just as HH never ever recognised ECL as such. Let us learn to be fair to others!

  9. Whatever the president says is unnecessary and he does not call the results. What UPND is doing by putting ECZ under pressure is delaying these elections even more. Work with ECZ so that they can announce the elections quickly and if the winner is HH at that point I’m sure the president will do the right thing. The people of Zambia have had enough of this PF monster and I’m sure no one wants to see the birth of a new monster called UPND. We have a process so please follow it otherwise you are creating unnecessary tension in the country.

  10. Give the president the benefit of the doubt. He has never been in control of his PF monster which is about to swallow him. He will soon realise that you can’t mess with the people power. Give him a few hours, he will come to his senses but for now let’s wait for the official result announcement from ECZ.

  11. Let all results be announced. I am pretty sure ECL will bow out. Then we can look forward to the Kwacha appreciating in a few hours time after inauguration of the new President and jobs being made available within the shortest possible time for the many youths who have voted for HH. Expectations are very high and it is my prayer these will be met, as young people are not known to be that patient. It is also my hope that social security programmes like Social Cash Transfer for our poor people will continue with a more capitalist oriented party. We do hope FISP also continues so that we are able to sustain our bumper harvest and do not have food shortages.

  12. Calvin the joke will be on you. Remember I am in OP. We have the results before anyone else for security reasons. Ask yourself, if hh has won then why aren’t the security forces at his ugly house

  14. Dora Siliya,Kambwili,Tutwa,Makebi Mwanakatwe,Nawakwi,Antonio are all planning to Join UPND….brace yourselves for massive defections and UPND infiltration by PF Bandits…and this time they will loot big time

  15. @Kaizar Zulu
You are contradicting your boss. He is complaining that the elections are not free and fair but you are saying that he has won. Are you telling us that he will be petitioning the elections which he himself has won?
Is it dagga or Jameson replacing your blood you people? We should ask doctors to take samples of you alcohol to check the amount of blood levels remaining.

  16. @ KZ, ALL PF ATTEMPTS TO RI.G ARE IN CHECK.
    1) ASSIGN VOTES FROM HH TO OTHER CANDIDATES, HENCE DILUTING HH, NOT TO ATTAIN 50+1 HENCE FORCING 2nd ROUND. THAT IS IN-CHECK WON’T WORK. 2) DELAY COUNTING TO IRATE ZAMBIANS RESULTING IN RIOTS, WHERE YOU CAN THEN RIG. THAT IS IN-CHECK, ZAMBIANS HAS RECOGNIZED THAT, SO, THAT TRICK IS OUT. 3) CRYING ABOUT MISSING AGENTS, TO FORCE ECZ TO STOP ANNOUNCING RESULTS, HAS ALSO NOT WORKED.
    4) ASKING SOME PROPHETS/BLACK MAGIC, TO DO SOMETHING THAT WILL CHANGE THE RESULTS – THIS IS YOUR LAST HOPE! CALL THOSE NIGERIAN PROPHETS TO HELP YOU! That is your last hope!

  17. Lungu is borrowing from Zimbabwe’s president’s cheating book – using the judiciary “under his iron fist” to change the election result. Zambians be warned.

  18. Mambala Kaizar Zulu, the Zambian people have overwhelmingly rejected Lungu and the PF.

I know this because I am OP too. You actually report to me kawalala iwe

  19. Just stay calm, that’s the duty of Patriotic Zambians. It’s too soon to be conceding. There will need to be a challenge at the courts on the murders of monitors, hence free and fair and possibility of nullity… again we should remain calm to allow the courts due process. We must give justice to those two men on mortuary slabs right now because of duty.

Having said all that, as a Patriot, I serve and owe allegiance to whoever is declared winner in a fair contest. God Bless Zambia and all our potential leaders.

  20. Chi colour Lungu and his minions are gone for sure, Chi colour naba muma more than 500, 000 votes, now go and arrest HH like you said Kolw3 iwe

  21. Zambia has no USA’s electoral college. Give ECZ a chance people.
It’s suprising how this former pastor is loud mouthed these days. Yet when you check he still wallows is 0 votes to 4.
It is shocking but PF will stomach the entry of h² in their bedroom.
I am about to catch a flight folks. Like I promised. After the vote I off to Europe.

  22. In all honesty let’s all uphold the rule of law regardless of our affiliation ,this great divide will take us no where ,Some of us still have faith in ECZ to do the right thing without any external interferences.Zambia is for all ,
