WEEKEND SCORECARD: Nkana Bench Backs New Boys After Loss to Nkwazi

Share

The Nkana bench is backing its new-look team to deliver after tumbling in their FAZ Super League Week One home game on Sunday against Nkwazi.

Beston Chambeshi fielded five new players in his starting XI in Nkana’s 3-2 loss to Nkwazi in Kitwe.

Some notable new faces included midfielder Jacob Ngulube who returned to the club two years after he left for stints at Kansanshi Dynamos and demoted Napsa Stars.

But the spotlight was on ex-Zambia U20 and U23 goalkeeper Bradley Mweene who has joined Nkana from Portuguese 4th division side club AD Sanjoanense.

Mweene conceded two early goals in the opening ten minutes of the game.

“If you look at the team that we have, we have new players and it takes a lot of time for players to gel so such mistakes are there in the game and what is important is the next game,” Nkana first assistant coach George Chilufya said.

Meanwhile, Nkana are off this weekend because their Week Two opponents Zanaco have a CAF Champions League game this Saturday against Akonangui whom they have just beaten 2-0 on Sunday away and are currently in transit back to Zambia from Equatorial Guinea.
