MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba Affirms Commitment to Politics and Religion

Share

MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba has vowed to continue practicing both politics and religious matters.

Dr. Mumba is a veteran pastor with over four decades of experience in the preaching ministry.

The former Republican vice President is the founder of a Pentecostal Church called Victory Bible Ministries International.

Featuring on ZNBC Television’s Frank Talk Show, Dr. Mumba said he loves both politics and Church matters.

The Senior Clergy said he wants to ensure that the values of God are injected within the very body of the Zambian politics.

Dr. Mumba added that through politics he encourages the governments or the people entrusted with power to equitably deliver goods and services to every Zambian.

“When I speak, I do not speak just to preach the gospel which I do and I have done for 44 years but I also want to make sure that we encourage the governments or the people entrusted with power to govern to equitably deliver goods and services to every Zambian regardless of who they are. So that is where the politics and church comes in,” he told Frank Mutubila.

Dr. Mumba served as the eighth vice-president of Zambia from 2003to 2004 under Levy Mwanawasa.

He was Zambia’s High Commissioner to Canada after his dismissal as Republican vice president.

“Just like you look after your home, you look after your business and other things, it is very easy for me to do what I do because I love both Church and politics. I love to preach but I also love to participate in the political process to ensure that the values of God are injected within the very body of the politics of our country,” he said.

In 1997, he founded the National Christian Coalition, a Christian political movement which was registered as a political party in 1998.

NCC participated in the 2001 General Election, where Dr. Mumba emerged 5th out of over 11 presidential candidates.

“God allowed me to be born in Zambia. God told us to occupy the earth and change our world,” Dr. Mumba continued.

He has been serving as MMD president since 2012, a year after the party lost power to the Patriotic Front (PF).

Besides politics, from time to time, Dr. Mumba takes to the pulpit to preach the Word of God locally and abroad.

    • No. Politics and Religion are two sides of the same coin. Even when you forcefully divorce them people will vote according to the dictates of their religion. This is not to say the relationship is desired just to say the public is influenced by both. Thus Crafty politicians will use religion to get into power and some priests may use government to remain priests.

  1. The day you accept that you have failed in politics will be the time you should know it’s time to concentrate teaching the gospel

    • Nevers – you have no *SHAME. You are a *BANDIT. You are at the helm of MMD, fraudulently and illegally. You are just using MMD to get money from the American evangelical who still believe you are the chosen to lead Zambia. You don’t respect for the MMD Constitution, your time has expired. You have reduced MMD, a party that fought Kaunda to bring back Multi-Party Systems – to faeces. You are not a King. Frankly, I can tell you that if you left MMD, they are people in Diaspora who would easily pump $3m to reinvent MMD. You have every right to participate in political discourse inside or outside MMD. Please vacate your post/position in MMD.

  2. Very laughable. Who can take this clown seriously? If HH continues on the same path, he will end up like this fraud of a pastor.

Interestingly my uncle who sacrificed alot for upnd to win elections, has still not been offered a job. Hh is giving those who worked against him positions. Very dangerous game.

    • No wonder. You seem to have changed your view against HH.
Lately, you sound more like one of those PF losers, completely a different @Tarino, so it’s because your uncle was NOT offered a job. Makes sense now.

    • This is an impostor attempting to discredit me…some individuals crave attention but lack faculties to engage others on platforms so the next best thing is clone other accounts.

    • @General Kanene, Tarino has been consistent. Even when he was Jay Jay he was very anti-PF just go and check his posts. When UPND took over he criticised them just like he did PF. Some of the bloggers support nonsense just because it is done by their party. We shouldnt be blind followers

    • @Wagner CiC
I agree with you and have I known Tarino for a long time since he was Jay Jay. It’s okay for him to criticize the GRZ of the day, that’s what it means to be neutral, it’s a good thing !!!. Even I was criticizing PF just like Tarino, and we were then both termed as UPND. Unfortunately, lately. I have seen some comments supposed to be from Tarino e.g. criticizing HH for not going to China. I think the REAL Tarino very well knows the reasons why HH has not gone to China, hence he is not the type who would be nagging on LT just like ba PF. It must be an imposter.

  3. “The Senior Clergy said he wants to ensure that the values of God are injected within the very body of the Zambian politics.” No, Sir! We do not want the kind of chaos and conflict that have engulfed countries like Nigeria in Zambia. Nevers is old enough to know that what he is proposing has cast other countries into perpetual religion-based conflicts. He knows that there are several other religions beside Christianity that may want to join the political fray.

    • NO SIR ZAMBIA IS NOT LIKE THOSE COUNTRIES YOU ARE BRINGING UP THE PICTURE , IF DR. MUMBA LOVES BOTH CHURCH AND POLITICS IT IS NOT AN OFFENCE TO ANY ONE , THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT MANY POLITICIANS ARE EVIL IN MOST OF THE THINGS THEY DO.
DR. MUMBA HAS CHOSEN A GOOD PATH FOR HIMSELF LET HIM CONTINUE MAY BE HE CAN HELP THE MISGUIDED POLITICIANS WHO PADDLE HATRED FOR THEIR FELLOW ZAMBIANS .

  4. Oh ! I found out the answer Professor Dr. Bishop President Nevers Mumba is a friend to Field Marshall Dr. Chishimba Kambwili

  5. The MMD Constitution stipulates that one can only serve as President for 2 five year terms. Further, it states that the Party shall hold an elective National Convention every five years. Since 2012 Nervers Mumba has resisted to call for an elective National Convention. Although he never been re-elected, his mandate to lead the MMD lapsed in August last year. He’s illegally in that position and God doesn’t tolerate illegalities. He must repent. He’s still the same conman he was at Lakes Fisheries in Kitwe. Shame

  6. We should not mix religion and politics, because a personal choice of faith is not a legal requirement. But being in politics of a country has legal requirement that of being a citizen.
Because of separation of religion and State, one need not show his or her faith because it would create acrimony in the execution of political activities.
