King Mswati the third of Eswatini has officially opened this year’s International Trade fair with a call for the two countries to improve trade with each other.

King Mswati said trade between the two countries remains insignificant and has called for closer trade collaboration to boost trade.

The Eswatini leader said Zambia’s International Trade Fair is an opportunity to work together and enhance bilateral trade and provide a better environment for trade.

He said the trade has been growing at four percent and hoped the visit will help the two countries improve in this area.

The King called for partnership in agriculture, tourism, joint cooperation on defence and security and hoped the initiative will soon be realized between the two countries.

King Mswati said his country is hosting its international trade fair in September this year and invited Zambian companies to exhibit in that country to increase trade between the two.

The King has also thanked the country for managing to negotiate for the debt relief which is affecting many African countries and that Zambia will be an example.

And President Hakainde Hichilema called for the maintenance of peace as the basis for achieving economic stability, promoting trade, and investment.

Mr. Hichilema called for partnership in trade to provide better opportunities for the country and the people of Eswatini to share investment opportunities between each other.

The President said bringing together the raw materials that God has given the country will help to create opportunities for economic development.

He said the coming of King Mswati, the third to open this year’s international trade fair will help to share information and trade on what the two countries produce to enhance cooperation.

Mr. Hichilema has also called for the modernization of the international Trade fair and urged trade fair management to utilize the facility and avoid it being a one-day affair but be able to create wealth throughout the year.

The 2023 International Trade Fair is being held under the theme STIMULATING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS, TRADE AND INVESTMENT

  1. This man has been coming to Zambia since he was a boy reading this selfsame speech countless times about increasing trade nothing has ever come out of it …remember his small kingdom is surrounded by a powerhouse like RSA its more economical for them to trade with RSA than anywhere else.

  2. Both Zambia and eSwatini are largely dependent on RSA for most of their requirements. This call has been made since the days of Mwanawasa. If todate our relationship hasn’t been strengthened then it will never be. Perhaps let’s maybe look at other avenues of collaborate like the cultural exchange since we’ve failed on the economic front. Let’s replicate the reed dance ceremony here so that our leaders don’t have to travel that far to enjoy it

    • Instead of entertaining this fooool who rules kingdom by decree and has total controll of the media we should be encouraging him to undertake political reforms…then again our President is not that brave.

    • What do u mean dependent? Zambia isn’t a colony of SA nor is Eswatini. These countries trade with each other on equal terms

    • He is not dependent on South africa. ESwatini uses its resources to buy products from SA. It doesn’t go begging for free food from its neighbor.

  3. We must stop wasting time with self styled dictators like Miswati, this man is against democracy and his own people are tired of his autocratic monarchy and as a modern democracy I don’t think we should entertain such people.

  7. Eswatini has had the highest HIV prevalence rate in the world The virus has killed countless Swazis and left thousands of orphans. By 2022, the country was making considerable progress in epidemic control, but the impact of HIV on the country has been significant.(BBC 2023)
Yet this foooool of a King still continues every young teen who comes of age…he is a drain on the country’s much needed resources.

Really? And DRC will thank Zambia for negotiating Zambia’s debt? Angola too? Malawi?

  9. It’s god hail the king even at a time when MPs here are busily passing a law to raise marriage age from 16 to 19
And come September it’ll be all roads to Eswatini for reed dance

  10. Kaizar Zulu. Also knows whole truth. But the truth. His master Edgar Lungu used to visit that small Dictator-kingdom. Not to discuss development. But to satisfy their appetite for 16 years old poor girls. We saw how they were exposing their fat bellies. HH will capture the same opportunity.
