UPND Consultant Mr. Simuuwe Refutes Dr. M’membe’s Critiques, Highlights Government Progress in Zambia

Share

In a rebuttal titled “A Quick Response to Fred M’membe’s Critique of HH,” Mr. Mark Simuuwe, a consultant for the United Party for National Development (UPND), has directly addressed the criticisms made by Dr. Fred M’membe, the opposition leader of the Socialist Party, against President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND government.

Mr. Simuuwe opened his rebuttal by targeting Dr. M’membe’s approach to criticism, stating, “Fred M’membe likes sweeping statements on corruption without citing anybody by name.” He contrasted this with the current government’s transparency and accountability, emphasizing, “Under the UPND New Dawn Government, we have seen ministers, permanent Secretaries getting fired for illegality and other corruption-related matters, and the Anti-Corruption Commission freely investigating such matters.” Highlighting the differences between the UPND and the previous PF government, Mr. Simuuwe noted, “We are coming from a government of over 3000 ghost workers… This simply means they manufactured non-existent civil servants in order to steal public funds. With the clean-up of the civil service record, it is a milestone in the fight against corruption.”

On healthcare, Mr. Simuuwe criticized Dr. M’membe’s lack of factual information, saying, “Fred lacks researched information. What he misses in his critique are facts on available data.” He then provided detailed statistics on the UPND’s healthcare initiatives, stating, “In less than 2 years, UPND has been able to build over 200 health posts across the country under the CDF and employed over 14,000 health workers… This has never happened since independence in Zambia.”

In the economic sector, Mr. Simuuwe addressed the challenges inherited from the PF government, explaining, “The economic situation was firstly messed up by Fred M’membe and his friends…they destroyed the economy by overborrowing until Zambia reached the ICU where UPND found it.” He highlighted the UPND’s efforts to stabilize the situation: “As a solution, the UPND New Dawn government has secured an equity partner from Abu Dhabi to pump in $1.1bn to revamp Mopani…to help fix the currency and claim back lost jobs.”

Addressing transparency and accountability, Mr. Simuuwe pointed out Dr. M’membe’s alleged past discrepancies: “According to the ZRA report then, this is a man who was not transparent with Pay as You Earn at the Post Newspaper. He deducted PAYE from workers at the Post but failed to remit to ZRA.” He contrasted this with the UPND’s commitment to transparency, stating, “Today, in enhancing transparency and accountability, UPND has performed better than Fred M’membe’s PF.”

In his closing remarks, Mr. Simuuwe underscored the UPND’s commitment to addressing the nation’s challenges, despite the difficult legacy left by the previous administration. He stressed, “Citizens can see that [the UPND] does not mean well for the country,” highlighting the efforts made in various sectors to improve the lives of Zambians.

  1. Dr of lies….if you Mr Simuuwe can now afford three square meals per day it is your personal achievement. The rest of us have to ration food just to make sure everyone has something. You call this an achievement.

    • Explain to us how people can afford 3 meals if Zambia owes US $33 billion that it cannot pay, and the IMF has removed all the subsidies on mealie meal, and is using the money to pay creditors of that debt? Is this situation the fault of UPND which is trying to negotiate debt relief or that PF (Michael Satan and Edna “Johnathan Mutawire” Lungu)? When Frederick Chipuba and Michael Satan conspire to sabotage the agriculture of Southern Province, which is the breadbasket of the country, is it the fault of UPND which was not in existence when Zambia suffers hunger years later? Do you believe that the lack of personal integrity, stealing and lying are good or not? I know that in the past you have supported stealing, and said that there is nothing wrong with unpayable debt….

Note: The Upnd does NOT MEAN WELL FOR THE COUNTRY. True Dr Simuuwe.

    • Nainmwe that is just a typo error. Try to understand the whole post rather than editing what Mr. Simuuwe wrote in isolation.

    • This is clearly taken out of context. Dr Simuuwe explained how PF (Michael Satan and Edna “Jonathan Mutawire” Lungu) borrowed and looted US $33 billion and put Zambia in economic disaster. He explained how UPND is trying to negotiate debt relief, to allow Zambia to breathe, how the can he say that UPND does not mean well?

  3. No wonder zambia is were it is today because we luck credible leadership. You employ non productive sector and you boast next you have no money to pay them next you start taxing mobile money in order to raise money.kkkkkk yama start first by employing productive sector then next you go to non productive because by then you will have money to -pay the other sector,so do not do the opposite to impress your masters on the expense of zambians.Have you seen now were we are,Kwacha dollor, cost of living is now unbearable, a dish of siavonga kapenta is now costing k400,honestly kwena guys aweee better to resign on moral grounds.Be like our friends in Europe.

    • I see that you are nibbling at the sides, and not addressing the cause of all the problems in Zambia. How come you have said nothing about the US $33 billion that PF (Michael Sata and Edna “Johnathan Mutawire” Lungu) borrowed and looted, leaving Zambia unable to pay its debt. The IMF has now taken control of the economy, removed all subsidies and using the money to pay the debtors.. How come you are not talking about this, is it because the problem was caused by your fellow tribesmen?

  4. That’s why Upnd cannot allow opposition parties to hold public rally meetings. They are afraid that the people will be told the truth.
By the way Mr Simuuwe, Fred Mmembe is more Upnd than anything. You should thank him for de campaigning the PF on your behalf.

  5. Mark needs to stop being a coward and declare that he is in fact a UPND member on salary.
He argues that HH is transparent but simply has a blanket statement. HH transparency should start from him declaring assets. There is no argument that can be made to defend HH there.
HH further goes to Dubai four times, comes back and announces a relatively new company registered 5 months ago with a corporate veil as a shareholder in Mopani. A whole country having an investor who is secretive and less than a year old? This coming from a man whose name was mentioned in the Panama papers? Think of that what you will. Again, FQM was silently privatised in return for a 3 percent royalty. A national asset sold without parliamentary approval? Who has shares in the publicly listed FQM? HH.

  6. The lack of transparency by our head of state as regards his business interests is very annoying. Isn’t it a company associated with him which was allowed, against the law, to audit the ministry of defence? Isn’t it a company connected to him which was given a contract to provide insurance and risk assessment services for all government mines?
Our constitutional Court (without surprise) failed us in the Sean Tembo case. I hope now the petition to ECZ using the ATI gives us some answers.

    • Sean Tembo and other opposition parties are only interested in the disclosure of HH assets. This is highly malicious and is aimed at scandalizing HH. The UPND knew this and cleverly allowed the ATI bill to pass through.
Using the ATI to petition ECZ, all the asset declarations made during the 2021 will be made public. This will spell doom for ECL cause he deliberately changed the law to hide his ill gotten wealth.

    • Uncle Independent, you are right that the focus of opposition parties is on HH, as it rightly ought to be now. He is in charge of the country and he has the potential to misuse our national resources unlike the others.
All well meaning Zambians need to put pressure on HH to declare his assets, he is the one reaping from our resources now.
Lungu may have equally stolen our resources, if so, he should equally be held to account. No one should be spared, but you can appreciate the urgency attached to HH amongst all the others.

    • Sean Tembo went and stole from Botswana. He is a fugitive there. Zambia needs to extradite there so that he answer the charges against him. HH came with his assets into government. The man was already rich before he became president. He does not a get a presidential salary, live in state house or use government cars. He should absolutely not divulge his assets to anyone. All these jealous tribalists, wanting to know his assets have never asked Lungu, Satan and all their tribesmen who came in the presidency as paupers and left as multimillionaires to divulge their assets. There is no law in Zambia requiring the president to declare his assets, and HH should tell them nothing.

  7. DeJaFOOOL,i7 is highly nonsensical to pick smoke leaving fire. Of all the valid and indisputable data that Simuuwe has provided, you only choose to highlight what is obviously a mistake to cook your breakfast

The main take-home point here is the fact that UPND has managed to stabilize the economy and is now slowly improving the lives of Zambians. If you ration food for your children and yet you have money for bundles to be posting rubbish oh this blog, every day, then your wife should be taken by another man

    • You are absolutely right. They complain about the alleged difficult economy, but do not discuss the US $33 billion that PF (Michael Satan and Edna “Johnathan Mutawire” Lungu) borrowed and looted, leaving Zambia a debt it cannot pay, and having to go to the IMF for salvation. They say nothing about the fact that the IMF has removed subsidies on all food, fuel and electricity because of the inability of Zambia to pay the money stolen by Mutawire and Satan

  8. The imbecile above…. just shows lack of intellectual capacity on your part. Of course even a child can tell that it’s a typing error….but a clever person can use it for funny… knowing fully well that Simuuwe cannot not condemn the Upnd… maybe in future which is doubtful… you people stick together like ba konto.

    3
    • “We people stick together”? Have you looked in the mirror recently, you tribalist? Or maybe you are too ashamed of your ugly face which resembles that of Kashimba Chimbwi-Li? If it was not for “us” Kaunda would not have been able to go to England to negotiate independence with the English. If it was not for us, the white Federal Party would have ruled Zambia after 1963, instead UNIP. If it was not for us, Chipuba would remained jailed in Choma. We fed your ungrateful ass with maize and beef for 60 years. Maybe we became disillusioned that as soon as he became president, Chipuba fired all of “US” from the civil service and the army; and engineered the deaths of 2 million of our cows from foot and mouth disease; Satan tried to steal Itezhi Tezhi and Siavonga from us…etc

  9. Ecl legacy= building national heroes stadium

Hh legacy= taking cholera to national heroes

Remember to make wise decisions in 2026

    • No chinyo chanyoko. The legacy of Edna Lungu and Michael Satan was to take a solvent country that was growing, thanks to Ng’andu Magande, and saddling it with a debt of US $33 billion, which it cannot pay, because the two of them stole the money.
