Hard Truth By EF President Wynter Kabimba

Share

I find it touchy and encouraging to see that we have among the opposition, leaders who will not sway from telling fellow opposition players and leaders the truth.

Wynter Kabimba the Economic Front President while on the program dubbed let the people talk hosted by Chimweka did not miss his words when he said it is not possible for anyone in civil or public office to get rich over night just after being given the opportunity to serve the people. Yes, civil and public service is about service to the people.

He went further to question as to why those being asked by Anti Corruption Commission to show proof of how they acquired some of their assets are finding it difficult to do so to the extent of even rounding up about five lawyers or so for assets they acquired themselves.

It is indeed fishy and does not make sense for one to fail to qualify how one financed or acquired his/her own assets. It is also important to note that ACC does not question the suspects over all their assets or properties they own, but only those suspected to be proceeds of crime while in the service.

I have argued several times than once that, why should it be problematic to just give information on how one acquired an asset! Surely does one need a horde of lawyers who were not part of the acquisition process to produce evidence for you? The simple answer is that these properties were acquired dubiously, period.

It is for this reason that we as a nation should call for enactment of a law that should compel everybody in public office to declare their assets at the time of entry into that office, and then yearly, and finally at the time of exit. This will scare people in public office from being careless with people’s resources. We should not only raise a flag over declaration for the President as it is.

That will also make the work of ACC ease as they can be trailing these happenings yearly if they see something suspicious, than waiting most times when the officer has exited. This will also end the language of political witch hunt that is now very much loud on the mouths of those questioned.

  1. It is very simple if HH can start everyone will follow suit including your self how you people shared council houses worth millions but got them at a price with no proper valuation.

    • The sale of municipal housing was presided over by the government of President Frederick Chiluba. It was government policy to sell the houses.

    • For Kabimba…add to that selling of the reserved area on either side of the stream that divides Jesmondine and Kalundu whilst he was Lusaka Town Clerk. You think we have forgotten? Yes you can cheat these kids and clueless praise singers…but we legends are still here.

    • We can start with ECL, how about that? We know people like you, very quiet about this test even when you saw the man get wealthy in a year, it was fine. HH is wealthy already comrade , thats zambian people can entrust him wioth the levers of power, they know he has it all already.

  2. Yours is not a balanced diet… Matambo and company have become rich all of a sudden. Time to question them by ACC is now, not when they are in office. Lest we forget, Kakubo has not been pursued by the ACC up to now…why? Because it’s your party’s policy to protect its members.

    • We should avoid cipantepante investigations, we want to briefed everyday of investigation detail NO WAY. Some investigation should be done in the background to determine probable cause for crime, arrest, charge and prosecution. We want when a case are brought before the courts. they are solid and would lead to a successful prosecution

    • How do you know that Kakubo has not been pursued by the ACC? HH did his job and fired the bugger. HH does not command the ACC. If you are so concerned about corruption, why have defended the borrowing and looting of US $33 billion by Michael Satan and Edna Lungu? Were you one of the looters?

    • HH is not a thief. What did he steal? Mr Mazoka was not a thief, what did he steal? Kaunda was not a thief, what did he steal? Furthermore, you are not Tonga. If you were, you would never spell the name that way. We Tonga people know exactly why the name is spelled the way it is.

  4. @Gunner in Zambia…It was not the policy of the government to sell houses but rather FTJ’s plan to win the 1996 elections! Simple…….
