The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Commercial and Marketing Advisory Committee has set a target of raising approximately US$30 million over the next two years to support football development in the country.
The target was announced during the committee’s inaugural operations meeting held in Lusaka, where marketing and communications expert Bridget Kambobe was elected chairperson. She will be deputised by Lusaka-based lawyer Lewis Mosho.
Speaking at the meeting, FAZ President Keith Mweemba said the committee comprises individuals from diverse professional backgrounds with the capacity to mobilise resources needed to support the growth of football.
Mr Mweemba said the committee was established as part of efforts to transform football into a sustainable economic sector capable of contributing to national development.
He expressed confidence that the expertise and networks represented within the committee would help attract investment and strengthen football programmes across the country.
Meanwhile, newly elected chairperson Bridget Kambobe called on committee members to work diligently and meet the expectations of FAZ and the Zambian people.
She said the committee remains committed to supporting initiatives aimed at advancing football development and improving the sport’s commercial potential.
