Republican Vice President, Mutale Nalumango has urged Kanchibiya residents to uphold the spirit of One Zambia One Nation ahead of the August 13 General Elections.
‎
‎Speaking to scores of residents who turned out at a public rally, Mrs Nalumango said contrary to what is being speculated in the public domain, the United Party for National Development (UPND) is not a tribal party but a party that embraces all Zambians regardless of one’s tribe or region.
‎
‎”I want to dispel the notion that UPND is a tribal party. We are a party for all Zambians. Look around you today; people from all walks of life, all tribes, and all backgrounds are here together. That is what UPND stands for,” she said.
‎
‎Mrs Nalumango urged the people of Kanchibiya District to uphold the spirit of One Zambia One Nation and reject any form of divisive politics that seeks to pit Zambians against each other on tribal lines.
‎
‎The Vice President called on residents to make informed choices in the upcoming elections based on development track records and the vision of the party for the future of the country.
‎
‎Meanwhile, UPND Kanchibiya Parliamentary Candidate, Sunday Chanda, took the opportunity to highlight his achievements over the past five years in office.
‎
‎Mr Chanda cited the construction of the Kaonda and Aluni Acrow bridges, the establishment of Kanchibiya Radio Station, the construction of the Civic Centre, and numerous other developments as testimony of his commitment to the people of Kanchibiya.
‎
‎”In five years, we have delivered what others could not deliver in decades. The bridges, the radio station, the Civic Centre – these are not promises; these are visible developments that you can see and touch,” he  said.
‎
‎Mr Chanda also expressed happiness with his decision to join the UPND, saying the party has provided him with the platform to deliver meaningful development to his constituency.
‎
‎”I am happy with my decision to join the UPND. This party has given me the resources and the support to deliver for the people of Kanchibiya, and I have no regrets,” He stated.
‎
‎Mr Chanda further called on the people of Kanchibiya to renew his mandate and that of the UPND in the August 13 General Elections to ensure continued development in the district.
