  1. Beautiful pics. LT. Impressive gesture by BRE to invite Gawa Undi of the mighty Chewa people. What is that attire Gawa Undi is wearing? Anyone to help?

  2. Congratulations to the Lozis and Chewas for demonstrating that Zambia is a united country. This attendance of the Kuomboka Ceremony by the Paramount Chief of the Chewas also mirrors the inter-marriages that are happening so much that I even think that by the year 2100 anybody talking in terms of tribe will be look at as not being normal. Bravo! This is the Zambia I know. Not the Zambia being talked about our policiticians who are so dull they can’t think beyond their monkey noses, always promoting tribalism because they fail to convince even a monkey to eat fresh maize. These two traditional leaders are doing what traditional leaders are supposed to be doing, NOT some other chiefs who are always getting involved in politics endorsing and defending political leaders and diving the nation…

    • From this ceremony alone, the Litunga surrendered 489 virgins to be married off in phases to wise Chewa men. Phase 1 is for those above 18 already and phase 2 is for those that become of age by June this year. Accepting the offer, Gawa had this to say: This number you have released will double at least, by the next ceremony.

  3. This is the way it must be. This is something that Zambia should promote and should be proud of. I am happy and proud that the guest of honor Paramount Chief Gawa Undi is of deserving calibre.

  4. Very colourful indeed.its good that our ceremonies are still ticking!! African/ Zambian culture at work.

  5. African/Zambian culture??? with the King wearing the British Governers uniform of Northern Rhodesia!!!

    • History is history. You never can change it. There is a history behind the Barotse Royal Regalia.

And with you typing on a computer and wearing pants instead of running around naked chasing monkeys in your bush. Grow up mate… last I checked the language you are speaking is English! Too much for condescending comments and hatred without really looking in the mirror to see the man talking.

Very beautiful pictures… for anyone who hasn’t visited this ceremony, I strongly encourage you put it on your bucket list, you will be impressed (that is if they still do it the way they used to when I was growing up… it used to be a truly spectacular ceremony).

Great to see bloggers united in appreciation, a break from the usual political mudslinging… obviously apart from a few insecure attention seekers.

This should have been a headline on LT and left there for at least 24 hrs so we can ‘detox’ from Lungu/HH bullcr@p rhetoric.
