FORMER Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba says he is still Patriotic Front Kasama Central Member of Parliament until the courts of law decides otherwise.

Speaking after the withdraw of his passport by the Immigration Department on Tuesday as he was trying to leave the country for his business routine together with his family at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Mr. Mwamba said he would not bow down to any form of Government intimidation and that he would continue to represent the people of Kasama until the courts of law decides otherwise.

Mr. Mwamba said no amount of intimidation and harassment would deter him and the UPND from forming government next year.

He said the withdrawal of his diplomatic passport by Government was nothing and he would soon get a ordinary passport, adding however, that the PF should realise that the withdrawal was total abuse of parliamentary privileges.

“When I got to the office, the lady in charge informed me that they had received instructions that my diplomatic passport should be seized as soon as I attempted to enter or exit the country. When I asked the reasons behind this decision, the officers present had no answers and referred me to get the reasons from the Director General at the Immigration Directorate at Kent Building,” Mr. Mwamba said.

“It is common knowledge that the matter of my parliamentary seat is in court and until the court determines I am still MP for Kasama Central. Let me also state that I was accorded with the diplomatic passport when I became an MP and mind you in opposition and, therefore, not when I was appointed Minister. It therefore surprises me that the Ministers of Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs, with the blessings of Edgar Lungu would order Immigration to carry out an unlawful act,” he said.

  1. Zambia is long finished as a nation.
Instead of concentrating on arresting the depreciation of the Kwacha, & nose-diving of the economy, politicians are concentrating, & spending valuable time & resources on such trivial issues.
How will taking G.B.M’s passport help solve problems of load shedding??
If only such energies were directed to solving the economy, & not stealing, & touring every nation possible, we would have a stable economy, & happy citizens.
    SHAME!!!

  2. Zambian Leadership waste time on useless things like passports instead of tackling real issues affecting the poor people. It clears shows politics of hate that either you are with us or we will fix you.

Lungu should be professional and not allow such nonsense. It is really a shame.

    • Its such a shame that this man called GMB is given media coverage. He seems to enjoy misleading people and if he what he says a so called principled man why is he antagonising every situation he finds himself in. The issue of being an MP is a non entity, he should know that if he was as principled as he says he is, he should have just resigned and joined hh and moved on. What kind of leadership does he think he is showing….absolutely nothing. By the way people oz zambia this wife beater should be in jail!

  3. GBM the former Defence Minister should not mislead the nation that its because he has moved to the UPND that has led to the withdraw of his diplomatic passport, not at all. We all know that only those serving in Govt like Ministers and those in high profile appointments within Govt are issued such a document. Offcourse there are a few priviledged individuals like Great kalusha Bwalya who have been accorded such priviledges as a result of their great contributions to the Nation. What has GBM done to the nation apart from stealing from the same govt. For example, when he was supplying mealie meal to the Defence Force, he was inflating prices and when he became Defence minister, he grabbed all the contracts to supply various goods without even following tender procedures and these are the…
