Forest ends Zanaco’s unbeaten run

Zanaco’s eleven-match unbeaten run in the 2016 FAZ Super Division campaign has ended after suffering a 1-0 loss at Forest Rangers in Ndola on Sunday.

Forward Kobe Chipeta came off the bench to score a decisive solitary goal two minutes into the second half additional time at Trade Fair Grounds.

Chipeta, who replaced Innocent Mwaba after 52 minutes, beat Zanaco keeper Mangani Banda with a fine diving header to justify coach Patrick Phiri’s faith in him.

This Week 14 encounter was seemingly heading for a draw after both teams had wasted several chances in both halves.

Forest were the first ones to create a serious chance that saw Chibwe’s goal-bound shot stopped by keeper Banda on 10 minutes.

Zanaco a missed chance to lead when striker Fashion Sakala’s shot on target was stopped by Makasa Mufwaya after 18 minutes.

The win pushes Forest to 18 points from14 games while Zanaco have 25 points after playing 12 games.
