MMD Youth National Chairperson Dauzan Tembo says he will no longer restrain the youths in the Party from ensuring that former Party President Nevers Mumba stops masquerading as Party President.

In a statement, Mr Tembo said as a commander of the youths in the party he can no longer guarantee the safety of his former Party President because he has not taken heed to the advise that he has been freely giving him.

He said not only has he advised Dr Mumba but that even the Minister of Home Affairs has issued a statement in Parliament stating that who ever claims that he is the President of MMD will be arrested as the party has only one President who is Felix Mutati.

He challenged the police to put a logical end to the perceived leadership wrangles in the party which the former Party President has been allegedly using to collect money from well wishers for his up keep.

He explained that Dr Mumba’s continued masquerades is putting him in the firing range of youths in the party who feel that he is taking the Party backwards especially that he caused “so much damage” to the Party during his reign as Party President.

“Dr. Nevers Mumba’s continued masquerading as MMD President is putting him in the firing range with youths in the Party. As a commander of youths in the party I cannot guarantee his safety anymore. I have been on record warning him to desist from masquerading as MMD President as if that is not enough the Minister of Home Affaires issued a ministerial statement in Parliament warning him to desist from breaking the law and impersonating, yet he continued to conduct himself in the same manner,” Mr Tembo said.

Mr Tembo’s statement comes in the wake of a Dr Mumba’s appearance on Pan African radio for a live radio program where he said he is still the President of the former ruling Party and that people like Stephen Kampyongo, the Home Affaires Minister should respect him because he is a former Vice President of the Republic.

Dr Mumba’s MMD camp is also said to have held a “NEC meeting” on Saturday as they prepare for their National Convention next year.

  1. “Mr Tembo said as a commander of the youths in the party he can no longer guarantee the safety of his former Party President because he has not taken heed to the advise that he has been freely giving him”……….kikikikikiki, ati commander……this chap should be caged for threatening violence.

    • where on earth have you seen a president of an opposition political party serving as a minister in the party in power? which checks and balances when you’re part of the bandwagon? In your own right thinking iwe ka Dauzan Tembo (that is if you’re not a chainama patient), how can your Mutati be an opposition leader whilst implementing the manifesto of a different party? what happens to your ideologies and manifesto as MMD when your president is busy following PF’s Manifesto? How can a leader of an opposition party (Mutati) be getting instructions from another political leader (Chagwa) and expect that oppostion to be relevant? Dauzan you’re a F00l

    • Dauzen, you are self confessed “commander of the youths in the party”? Do you uneducated 1mbecile realize what that means?

    • @Dombwa, in organized democracies that is normal. Look at Germany, the UK and even down the road in South Africa. In fact in most of these democracies you preferrably should be an MP if you are the leader of a party. It is only in Zambia where you think that being a party leader bestows some kind of regal status – some African leaders cannot even sit on a stool!!!

    • @Dombwa. I don’t agree with what this i.,diot is saying. But you got it wrong. You’re saying “where on earth have you seen a president of an opposition political party serving as a minister in the party in power? Nick Clegg?

    • Thought people went to court to seek orders when they had such issues.
Oh forgot its in the RB/Edward country, you just need shakeshake & you have rent-a-mob.

    • @Kumikoti and your fellow @Kalok
Being an elected MP and serving as a nominated MP are two different things. An elected MP is answerable to the electorates whereas a nominated MP is answerable to the appointing authority in this case the president. An elected MP is a servant of his electorates whereas a nominated MP is a servant of the president? in your own right thinking, honestly can you remain relevant in the political sphere when you’ve been appointed as an MP? By the way what is the role of an opposition political party (a government in waiting) in a democratic dispensation? Is it not to offer credible checks and balances? how will Mutati do that? Kalok and Kumikoti think if you can though i doubt

    • @kumikoti Clegg served in a coalition government between Labour and the Conservatives. There is no such arrange between PF and MMD. Get your facts right.

  2. Does MMD even have any MP, Mayor or Counsellor? I think MMD must just start all over again; it appears the party has been completely swallowed up by PF and UPND. They must have a genuine convention where new leaders will be elected, maybe this will rekindle peoples’ confidence in the once mighty MMD – the mother of democracy in Zambia. God bless Zambia!
